the guards should be on the car unless youre positive you can lay down the colour and drop coat from the same distance/at the same speed and pressure. not as easy as people might think

Ahhh Fuck. I was doing it that way as I thought it would be easier on me..... So would it still be ok to paint bonnet and wiper cowl separately?

yeah.. if the spraying technique is slightly different youll see it against the doors because its a big flat area. the tops of the guards are fairly narrow so its a lot harder to see.

you still have to make sure you drop coat the bonnet and guards with the same technique though because if you get the metallic sitting up more on the bonnet itll look lighter to the guards and nosecone

ive painted new guards and had the colour 98% so haven't blended the bonnet (colour looked 100% against the bonnet) but had to do the door to get it looking right

This bonnet took way too much work!! Only bonnet I found had a dent in the middle, but would be fine with a scoop. I bought it from a local panel shop who supplied the bonnet and fitted the scoop. (old bonnet was really fucked). When I agreed to get it done, it was to be ready to be wet sanded and painted. Well I did a guide coat to check. Lucky I did!!

Next step is the whole car.......

Yeah I didn't want a scoop but couldn't find a decent bonnet. Or atleast a decent bonnet at an affordable price.

Thanks mate. It's Concept NO MIX. Devilbiss starting line spray gun with a 1.3 tip. For the paint I am running approx. 32psi with the trigger depressed. With 55-60% reducer.

Looks great, the cowl hood is just the right size.

Thanks mate. I wanted to keep it as low as possible. Somewhat like the low profile cowl you see on some 69 Camaros. And it also had to be the full length of the bonnet, not starting a few inches back from the front or stop a few inches at the back.

Painted this today!! I'm pretty happy with it. Not a show car but will polish up real nice. Got a couple of minor runs. Just happy it's done
