    Keep it.

    You'll regret selling it.

Never sell. You don’t want to be the old cunt saying I used to have one of those.

Yeah look, I’ve considered all that for a long time. I probably will have some regret. But I have a shitload of memories and plenty of pictures and videos to remind me.

There’s many reasons why I want to sell, and not just to make some money. And I’m not being forced by the wife, quite the opposite as she doesn’t want me to sell it. One of the reasons most important to me is once we create some new family members, there’s nowhere for the cunts to sit. We enjoy going out in the ute together. Somebody will have to stay home, and that’s not fair to them. We’ve got a Silvia for family outings. There’s a lot more to it, maybe I’ll be bothered to type it another day.

In other news, I’ve been having an issue where the tacho kept flickering and dropping out and I could feel surging at constant throttle. It also felt rough under full throttle, just didn’t seem right. So I visited a mate with spare 5.0L parts and borrowed an ignition module. Fitted it up Saturday, fixed. Runs bloody perfect now, clean all through the rev range and the tacho is behaving again. Perfect. So I need to buy a new one of those now.

Oh yeah, won another trophy at a local car show today too.

Put it into storage if kidlets are on the cards.
11ty what your missus and the others said. Unless you sell to someone you know then don't sell.

Alternatively swap for a 4 door version. Even then you'll hate yourself.

Alternatively swap for VN SS... Hmm.

When the kid/s are with the grandparents for the day, that's when you'll want the ute.

Quality time with the nopics, away from the kids is really important. Trust me.

Looks too clean to sell. This looks awesome. Congrats on the trophy.

It’s not just room for kids. That’s a big one, but like I said, the Silvia solves that problem. And I can use it for solo or couples only, kid free runs too.

The Ute is in such mint condition now, I’m scared to use it. Scared to park it anywhere. I stress over it. So it sits in the garage doing nothing. I can’t put anything in the tray that isn’t a blanket incase I scratch the new tub liner. Useless ute.

It costs a fortune to register every year. Useless ute is still a commercial vehicle to the RTA and insurers, so rego is several hundred dollars more than an equivalent Commodore sedan every year.

It’s in the way. I want to get the Silvia in the garage so I can get to swapping out exploded engines etc, but mint ute needs to be locked up every night.
I don’t want to store it elsewhere because I’ll stress about it more than I already do and will drive it even less. Waste. (I’ve done this in the past).

I don’t actually enjoy driving it. It’s a big V8 truck. Tonnes of instant wheel spinning torque but no revs up top. All I ever want to do is rip skids and kick the tail out everywhere, which it does very well, but you can’t really make a habit of that. I want a light and nimble car I can rev and flog the living piss out of on the track and maybe the street, like the Silvia I already built just for that purpose. I’m over big V8 Commodores. This one is only good for taking to car shows or on cruises, both things that bore me to death and I don’t enjoy, even when I come home with the odd trophy.

One project car/toy is enough for me. It’s time to do some adult shit. Selling this and the wife’s VE SS will leave us with enough cash to buy a practical family car, maybe some new furniture for our own house which we’re looking at getting in the next 6 months, and maybe some leftover for the Silvia.

Sounds like you're selling for the right reasons mate. I still think you should find a way to keep it though... LOL !

+1 keep it. You'll hate yourself, I still hate myself after getting rid of a minter vhsle when I was a teenager. Dumb cunt I was.

I think I’ll be good. I don’t use it now and I’m not fussed. As long as I’ve got something fun to play with I’ll be fine. Maybe it will be worth a lot more in 20 years, whatever, that’s life.

Fuck me, I try not to even use the windscreen wipers on this so I don’t scratch up the new windscreen.

Really getting fucking sick of this thing. Fix one thing, find something else wrong and fuck something up. Pretty normal at the moment. A good chunk of it is my own stupid fault too.

When I fitted the replacement ignitor last week I noticed the brake fluid master leaking a significant amount. So yesterday I resealed that and did a full fluid flush. Then I polished up the underside of the bonnet which was pretty filthy.

I’ve been noticing a few drops of oil on the garage floor lately which I put down as a worsening rear main seal leak. I finally jacked it up for a better look and found it’s not actually the rear main but the bloody inlet manifold valley gaskets that I recently replaced. They’re also weeping some coolant.

I did shitloads of valley gaskets when I was at Holden. A pet hate of mine is people using tonnes of silicone sealer on engine bits and it all spooging out and looking messy. I put the bare minimum on mine for that reason, which in hindsight was a shit idea. So that needs to be redone.

Today instead of working on it and having the shits, Nopics and I went out for a drive in it instead. I just didn’t enjoy driving it at all. When we got home I decided to get stuck into cleaning up the undercarriage, firstly under the front wheel arches. Ended up using the Gerni in the engine bay to just finish off a few hard to reach areas I’d previously missed, being careful not to wet the new ignitor or coil, I got a tiny bit on the ignitor but blew everything dry right away.

Of course once I was done the fucking thing wouldn’t start. Plugged in my borrowed ignitor and it started right away. Seems I fucked the new one already. And the alternator light is on. That already has a new regulator already, so looks like I fucked that too. I’m not a complete idiot, I didn’t hold the Gerni directly on either of these parts. Just a splash if anything. Can’t wait to see the back of this thing.

That's standard operating procedure for the 304. Been there done that a loong time ago. ( Hi 1994 - 2001 ). You have to decide if you will persist with it, or move on to something different/worse/more boring/newer.

Leaking Holdens gave me a job to go to for many years. I’m too old for that shit now. It will definitely be flick time once it’s fixed.

Calmed down overnight and had another look this morning. Alternator light is off but it’s only putting out 12v. It’s the original alternator just with a new reg, looks like it’s tired.

Pulled the ignitor apart and had a look. Couldn’t see anything. It’s still dicked. It’s a Malaysian made half the price of Bosch job from ebay. Obviously very sensitive to water.
