A Pagoda. Not for the garden.

So, after several years of dreaming, hunting and missing out I pulled the trigger on an early SL over the weekend.

Originally Italian delivered, it arrived in Sydney via Florida 20 years ago. The importing owner kept the car until 2015, and had the conversion and later engine rebuild work done.

I missed out when he sold it last March, so it seems right that timing aligned with a motivated seller to make it mine. All going well, it's in my garage by the end of the week.

Thanks gents. It's no concours car, but I wanted something I can drive anywhere and fettle as I go.

The last owner put 800 miles on it, total. I'll be disappointed if I don't do that each month.

One of Mercedes very best. And probably the only convertible that actually looks better with the hardtop on, and it looks great with the top down!
