That is much more Austin or Triumph like. Brown faux wood grain in these things makes me think of a greased hair comb over balding late 40s yuppie who hasn't left the 70s

Lol.. True. The later is much like the real Forg metaphorically speaking so the imposter can't be too much different :p

Am happy with the Cap'nSlow-mobile. I had avoided driving one for years as I knew I would end up buying it pretty much on the spot. Like I did. I have no idea how people can command $30k+ for an rx2,3,4,7 etc when one of these just drives so nicely at a fraction of the cost. And stock.
Having messed with so many cars over time I now know that out of the box, some things can actually be good, and there could be an 9/10 chance that any changes you make will mess with a nice package. Pretty much just some nicer wheels and tyres are my intended changes. Thoughts on the 15x8's? Tyres are 205's?

Additional note: the standard soft top is actually pretty good noise wise compared to some other cars.
Buzz - on mine they are 15x 7.5 +32 with 195/55 pilot sport 3s.konig don't make the litespeed design I have anymore.

Then are look better in person than I thought they would from the photos. If I was buying rims myself I'd get some enkei rpf1.

Definitely time for an MX5 sub forum - 'MX5 Thircle'.

Looked at the Enkei's, was quietly impressed with the amount of 'tribute' / (knock off copies) out there. Am thinking something in Bronze might suit mine, the Mx5 Mania Buddy Clubs are tempting. Plus it is a suitably gay name.

Post up when you plan to get out for a hill climb or 'khana, will see if I can get out for a look.

Buddy clubs are a bit heavy. Real Enkies are best. I have Konig dial in. 949 racing wheels are good value.

Almost as bad as those bling lids Bitey has on his gold NB.

Nice buy. I bet the Ohlins weren't cheap for the previous owner. They sell them for the 86 and they're 4k+ from memory.

Ohlins were.. Approx. 3k for the p/o.

Today I remade the extinguisher bracket I started on yesterday cos I decided was too heavy! New version is decidedly lighter and simpler.

Test fitted the other rims I have from the whitegoods with semi slicks so we're good for Wakefield in a few weeks.

Wire wheeled the crap out of the spare wheel well in the boot to get rid of the minor surface rust. Dumped some killrust primer on it and left it to dry.

Nice. I've only ever used 4:3 Torsen diffs and no complaints.

Did another Hills drive in this today after work. Getting used to the grip levels even on road tyres is harder than I thought but it's so nice to have such steering feel brakeabd throttle adjustabilty , even with an open diff.

I have the door bushes ready to go in to stop rattles.

I'll organise a wheel alignment on the next week or two to dial in some neg on the front and book into Trackschool at Wakefield on the 18th.
