    80s chic Corolla

I've been keen to get back into an old skool Toyota but couldnt find a Celica that was value when this popped up at the right price. AE71, which are getting pretty thin on the ground these days. A series makes a twincam swap much easier.

Currently stock driveline but BC coilovers, neat interior, decent exhaust. Plans are pretty low key....4A swap of some sort, tidy up a few cosmetic issues, get the suspension working properly and just have a fun little thrasher. Biggest challenge is getting a LSD as they have a weird Borg Warner diff...might require a rear ending swap? I suspect I'll cave and stick some cooler jap wheels on it too although once the Jellybeans have been polished up I reckon they will look ok?

Your list of plans seems to somehow exclude de-JDMing the poor thing. Shirley typo

I did mention cosmetic tidy up But, I like the fender mirrors so they will stay :p Windscreen banner has gone already. Will reinstall bumpers of some sort but not decided on which yet. What else is there to 'undo'?

I'd be inclined to leave bumpers off and install a sheet aluminium front spoiler - like the late 60's Trans Am racers had...
"Where can we get hold of a Vincent Black Shadow?" "Whats that?" "A fantastic bike," I said. "The new model is something like two thousand cubic inches, developing two hundred brake-horsepower at four thousand revolutions per minute on a magnesium frame with two styrofoam seats and a total curb weight of exactly two hundred pounds."

rear tyres look hella stretched? JDM plates too...

I suspect the BR coil slam is what's giving it more flatbrim stylez than an ADM vehicle deserves

I don't mind the look but bumperless is just too much cop bait. KE chrome bumpers look OK I reckon so i'll chase up a set of them most likely

Neat pickup. Have been keeping an eye out for a neat AE71 lately as well.

(had one 20 years ago with 4AGE transplant - would love to replicate again).

They are rare and only getting rarer....this one isn't as neat as I would have liked, but the price was right so I can throw more dollars at it and know i'll get it back if I ever choose to sell.

Changes have commenced. Turns out the guard work was a complete debacle so had that patched up to get structural integrity back. I'll cover what's left with bolt on guards as that was the look I was going for anyways.

Broke an axle in the Borg Warner within days lol so I have stuffed a disc brake, LSD AE86 diff in there (pulled that out of a TA22 I just acquired ). It's bolt in but still needs tweaks here and there....I'll make chassis brackets for the white line swaybar tomoz. I had a white line adjustable panard rod lying around the shed so that came in handy. I need to test fit a couple of tailshaft options I have but suspect I will need to shorten the larger single piece shaft I'd prefer to use.....and just waiting on new handbrake cables to arrive from Thailand. Chrome bumpers are also on their way. It won't be a show car but should end up looking tidy enough.

Not yet....the celica also came with a healthy 4AG with twin side draft solexes so I'll swap that in for mild fasts and induction noise pOrn. Not sure long term? Might force feed the solexes with the rotrex with a set of mild cams for laughs? 200 responsive hp would be fun without having to worry about upgrading everything else ?
