Bargain really. Low km unboosted motor. Got tailshaft, all looms, pigtails, etc etc. Nothing was a hassle. $1k cheaper than any where in Melb. $3mth warranty
Picked up some rear tyres this morning for cheap. 245/60/15 should fill out guards
Then pulled out all the front suspension, pulled the ecu out from the passenger compartment, then dropped it out and dragged it out of the car
Put the car back down, took off the bonnet, then fed the Barra from the top. Jigged it about to sit ok. Still waiting on engine mounts
Also mocked up the 100mm thick cooler and it sits spot on behind the bar. Didnt have to touch the aircon drier. Also no cuts to ther reinforcement and sits up off the bottom. Then trimmed bar to fit
Woa hang on a sec, so an inline 6 will fit into a Commo ute? Surely it's a massive rektangle!
believe it or not, when holden was designing the vn, they were trying to get nissan to make an rb33 so they could put it in the new model. the engine bay was designed with an I6 in mind. nissan said ead because small market and the rest is history. /hijack.

I didn't realise for about 15 mins as it never broke the speed limit.

I recall hearing that, also Opel still had their OHC inline 6, which was actually fitted to the Commodore for Singapore.
I wouldn't have thought the big intercooler would have fitted, I assumed all auto utes also had the big transmission and power steering coolers like my wagon.
I love seeing these motors plonked in commodores. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy for some weird reason. Looking forward to a thread appearing of vt-vz commo with Barra motor.
I am curious to see what these older motors will do. The ford guys seem to fap over the fg motors and not rate these things. Prob accounts for the massive price difference. But if u can get over 400rwhp out of an old NA dinosaur pushrod v6 motor with a turbo bolted on sherley this factory turbo motor can shit all over that.
