Tidy, this is a brilliant idea. Last car trailer I built with a mate by the finish I reckon we would of put around 4k into it, then needed something to pull it with.
The tyres are easy to check ( stamped on sidewall) but the rims - no so easy - They should be stamped on the inside also, but due to age / rust / dirt etc - can be impossible to find...
They look like a Old school Landcruiser rim or similar - so I doubt they will be ratted to 3.5t GVM (or thereabouts)
There should be a tyre placard on the vehicle that says what it needs as a minimum..
Speak to the bloke swapping the tyres over and see what he reckons about the rims too...

Yeah they are cruiser rims. I can't find an exact match though these later model (17's) are rated to >2000kg per rim (so 8.0t GVM)....
Yeah, Later model landcruisers went 5 stud to save money - I guess 4 wheel studs per vehicle adds up to a lot - LOL
If you are getting the tyres from a reasonably large retailer - they should be able to check a catalog etc for a suitable rim that will fit and be rated high enough..
Failing that - speak to a truck wrecker that specialises in the Dyna / Coaster etc and ask them what rims are available other than the fugly factory rims..
You may be in luck and those rims may be rated high enough, but for definite peace of mind, ask the question at the tyre dealer and make sure insurance doesn't try to screw you over if you are unlucky enough to have a blowout etc... And yes, they usually have a smaller (14" I think) dually rims on the back of them... - So that would be a giveaway for a copper if they were on the hunt for defects etc..
