Fark that's cheap. Wouldn't trust it on a 4wd but would be perfect for a trailer.

Still don't know what to do about getting a dead rolla onto it. Don't want an electric winch as it apparently triggers the hwy patrol. Might make a trailer hitch to drop on a hand operated boat winch

Stick it in a tool box. Small slot for the cable to go through.

From most reports the dominator winches are good things

            Why?
Suspicion of being an un-authoruised tow truck?

Its not a crime to own a tilt tray with a winch to tow your own cars, if you cave because you might get asked some questions then you let them win; Would you not own a car trailer with a winch>?
If your rolling around with a car you own on the back they cant do squat, if your rolling around with a just a winch they cant do squat and if its your mates car then it aint going to be hard to prove its not commercial.

Tow ball on the tray and a winch with a trailer hitch bolted to it. Drop winch on ball, use then take off and hide.

Surely a privately rego’d truck used for race car transport can’t be touched by hwp if you’re not breaking any laws or moonlighting as a towie. Unless you look like a Swede?

In all seriousness, put a “not for hire” sticker on the back of the tray.

Next door neighbour has an electric winch on his banana back F truck, never been pulled over on the way to multiple racetracks (Commodore Cup and IPRA).

Just bolt the winch under the tray up front with a small lid to pop up to run the cable through, might work?

I think the winch will need to be in the middle with a couple of pulleys at the front. It'll be a bit tight up there

Put a 2" hitch receiver on the headboard and use a hitch mount winch plate, remove when not needed.

Headboard? The front bumper will be about 3 inches off the cab

Sounds like the winch might need to be in the cab.

Maybe I could mount it in the middle with a couple of pulleys....

That will work, I've seen guys who mount the winch so they can run the cable out the front or rear.
