    Porsche 996.2 turbo

Not sure if I had a thread but I can’t find it so :shrugs:

Planning on doing some events with this after owning it for 3 or so years.

2004 Porsche 996.2 turbo manual coupe

In two weeks, it’s making its no prep debut at Taree airport. And by no prep, it means just that, not even allowed to do a burnout. My two concerns are the clutch and some bogan in a VN losing control and hitting me :/

No real plans but may look at some newer tech turbos....maybe Click image for larger version

Have a mate looking at these (or a 997 Carerra). Any tips or things to look out for?

Nice... Being a manual you should probably wrap it up in cotton wool and keep it in storage... not many good ones around anymore

^^^^ Don’t be one of those guys . Looks really tidy. Good ones will continue to appreciate. A few more kms on it won’t hurt. Garage ornaments are pointless. Should be a good thing at no prep. Are bomb proof and will take a beating. A mate had one and drove it like he stole it daily and never had an issue. And he had turned up the wick a little.

              My advice would be:

Whilst on start line next to said VN of dubious parentage, do not make eye contact for fear of catching meth.

              Dial up 4500 rpm.

              Wait for last yellow light.

              Release clutch and floor throttle.

Watch in your rear vision mirror as said VN twists itself into something with all the structural integrity of a cheesecake.

              Cross the finish line smiling.

Pretty solid cars, the coolant pipes on the top of the motor corrode and are glued together (motor out job). Apparently the pipes are $2k but when I do mine, I’ll do them in alloy tube, AN fittings and braided hose. No IMS issues on turbo motors.

Just going to do low-chance-of-crashing-it events, cruises, cars and coffee etc, I need to get out and about.

if I just drive it off the line and then punch it, I should be able to keep away from wayward bogans. Car feels low 12 quarter capable but the airport will only be 1/8 mile.

                  Thanks Fatboy

Is that a euphemism? I feel intimidated.

I see on the competitor list, Bruce Forsyth in a Capri, there’s a name/car from the past!
