Quite honestly, that Weber manifold with EFI is the most stupid idea I have seen in a long time.

Given all of the problems with fuel injecting a siamesed port Mini engine, to add into the mix the poor mixture distribution that one of those swan neck Weber manifolds brings with it is just lunacy.

All Minis have that hole in the firewall.

Given the spending that is going on, I'd recommend searching out a 7 port cylinder head for fuel injecting and turbocharging or alternately go back to a single SU.

For me it's a 'slippery slope' thing. DCOE throttle body on a Redline Manifold with a basic Haltech at least gives you a decent cold start and better fuel economy than the Weber. Going to 7 port and ITBs adds $5-7k at which point a B16-18 seems like a good idea. At which point throwing the Mini away and building a Lotus 7 replica seems like a better idea.

Your points are entirely valid though.

Anyway, carry on with the EFI borts!

Yeah I’m starting to think I should just keep this is a cheap ‘normal’ mini, spending $4-5k on a 7 port or BMW 16v head, is going to need a whole lot more bottom end and G/box $$ thrown at it too.... when it is always going to be slow compared to the B18 powered one 🤔

The Mini sweet spot seems to be just below the limit of the standard gearbox - go much over 100hp and you’re rebuilding frequently, spending $4-5k on a gearbox and still slow.

Personally I’d stick with 10 inch wheels and cones on your ‘normal’ one to keep it ‘normal’ but do admit to having brake envy. Plus your second Mini is way more awesome than my first, so I’m just trying to drag you back.

So you might as well use a single SU, plenty good for the 100hp.......trying to make the EFI work is making a rod for your own back.

I'd stick with 10" wheels and cones also, they work together.

Are they for the 19mm vented discs or just solids?

7.75” solid/grooved. Went solid to keep weight down, and I hear the vented don’t work great with smaller diameter rims.

                              Very cool.
I was about to post some progress in my mini thread, but I don't think I'll bother now

This car has a GR built engine in it, sounds great once the tach sweeps past vertical and it starts to sing.
