How about fixing those two things, detailing it and trying to sell to people that buy over priced BMW's instead?

That black import looks presentable. Where do you get these things? If you find one with a good M44 let me know

that silver compact has a full service history 160,000km M44 in it, feel free to have a nosey next time you drive past, it's unlocked.

sunroof leaks though so the interiors mouldy and i'm stealing the dash and replacing them with slightly less servicable versions from my green car, i also want the tie rod ends, rest is free game, i know E30 lads cream themselves over the 5 bolt rear end.

i'm also considering moving on the 318iS, i'll regret it but its not a neat car so meh. it needs a headgasket (kits in the boot) but the M44 itself is stout - i want to move it on to make way for an E46 compact, the E36 compact's M52 is coming along nicely, so i want to build a V8 E46 compact next and the 318iS is in E46 storage space - may be a better option for you as it's on style 32's, coilovers, full M sport interior, isn't missing the cat, etc

                  another locked down weekend...

                  whoops wrong weekend

                  uh

                  hold up

swapped the good bits from the silver compact to the green one

there we go, the compacts hatch now stays up, look ma, no hands

got the dash in. not done on that yet, but now have enough bits to make the dash install good.

having this much experience with it coming apart means now i have all the right screws in the right spot, right clips in the right spot, for now it'll do before i start cutting stuff for race car reasons like jamming rollcage bars through it

pulled the diff out of the silver sedan

                  just the gearbox to go

                  cleaned the other shit....

                  yep.

i want to find another set of shnitzels, or two... i'm hoping in the future i can buy back that 80,000km old black 46 compact, that'll cop the V8 but still be on schnitzels + bilsteins like the coupe.

                  because why not right?

and i'd like to extend my middle finger up to the poors in this country that ruined FR simmons. (irony?)

i haven't been posting but the fun never stops

                          also im an idiot

                          more on that later

                          two cars found new homes

                          one car didnt

found out that car had a quick steering rack in it too -after- it was picked up to be crushed of course. unhappy

those taillights in that above photo, on the silver compact

here they are 2 hours earlier

i deliberated about swapping these over but eh still don't know

can always swap back to ambers from the race car if needed

ive skipped the part where both were full of water, but i opened them up, cleaned them up, cleaned the rubbers, resealed blah blah

other good news. having the race car being a 1995 (like my original compact) i was able to determine which fasteners go where, and how the interior jigsaw goes together

                          therefore

i was able to piece together all of the good interior bits out of all 4 compacts and assemble a good interior

no busted plastic, no wrong fasterners

                          feels good

still a bit of trimming to do (hence no handbrake boot, door trims, etc) but at least it's there

also the two front seats, i only just noticed, are completely different patterns.

                          whoops

eh they'll be replaced with recaros eventually anyway they weigh 18 tons.

Fuck you find a lot of these! Kind of a little jealous and I don't even like German fuckers.

I reckon you should go all out and throw the blue seats out of the race car in.
Does the normal E36 dash fit the compacts? The E30 dash always bugged me about these cars.

                                Yeah sedan dash does.

Need to swap the heater box though which is a task and a half and I much prefer the pull style headlight and fog light switches so the E30 dash stays

I do like the blue seats in a bus interior kind of way… they’re filth though and I’m almost out of bissel fluid

And I got a new task at hand to get done. So maybe later.
