    C63 money pit drama show

As some of you know, I bought this car brand new in January 2009. It’s been through several tuned variations and has definitely tested my patience. But I can’t let it go. It’s been in and out of my life in the last 5 years. I’m starting a new thread as this time round things are getting pretty serious.

What started many years ago as tune header only car spiralled into a blown set up then built motor then ported heads and the rest is history.
The car went 11.5@121mph with a tune and header set up only.
With my weistec stage 3 charger, ported heads, e85 weighing in at 1970kg with me in it, it went 10.3@143mph at wsid. Well then I had an injector fail trying to beat that time. 2 cracked pistons, 2 rods bent and a broken crank didn’t help. I put in a cheap 180,000km stock short block while gathering some cash and deciding on what to do. That didn’t last long either as I cracked another piston.
But let’s wind things back for a second so you really understand my dramas. Before my first engine build my car sat in the corner of a shop for 18 months gathering dust. Unfortunately due to circumstances they couldn’t commence my build so came back to Qld to get done. The first built short block had fuckd piston to bore clearance and it rattled its ass off. So, stripped it down again, ordered new pistons (albeit slightly larger), and rebuilt it again. Another costly exercise and time consuming. This the time car ran good but kept pushing the dip stick. Like this the car made about 750rwhp boost only (10psi) and about 850rwhp with nitrous spraying into the supercharger (a 75shot). I never got to run the car like this.
Why did my injector fail? Well, little did I know when using e85 your injector should be modified for it (removal of baskets in the injector). The injector wasn’t spraying properly causing misfires. I tried to chase the issue but failed in doing so.

    Where are we at today?
Spent too much money on this that I can’t let it go.

I have purchased all new forged rotating assembly. Head studs, gaskets, timing chain, oil pump, everything. The block is at the machine shop getting Darton sleeves fitted. The aim is to have a motor capable of 1500hp. My current set up is limited, so it’s either nitrous, bigger charger or go turbo. Still deciding. I’ll try keep this thread updated as progress occurs. For those who want to build something similar here is a spec sheet

    m156 motor
    cp carillo piston set up
    arp head studs
    ported heads
    angle cut valves
custom made 4-1 long tube headers 2 3/4 off the head into 2 1/4 header pipe
    75hp nitrous into the charger
Interchiller kit (to be fitted but is purchased)
    id1050x injectors
    half inch fuel lines
    3 fuel pumps
weistec built gearbox and bigger oil pan
modified converter (stock stall) and valve body
    wavetrac diff
    2 piece floating rotors

I can empathise having been through similar shit luck with my LS builds.

                    Well done for soldiering on.

I really toyed with going the Weistec route but was scared away after reading about your issues. I can't play at that level if something went amiss.

Keen to see how you go!
