Very cool, the mivec v6, suspension mods and diff would make it a barrel of laughs on fire trails.

For some reason I was reminded of that weird 90's Jackie Chan movie where pretty much every single car was a Mitsubishi:

But it turns out that was released two years before the Pajero Evo. Must have been a bunch of other SWB Pajeros in it.

So these engines respond pretty well to turbos......

9 inches more track on the same wheels is massive. Long travel IFS/IRS is the bomb. Would ride awesome on the trails and dominate the beach

When it was mentioned that car was owned by a Hong Kong collector my first thought was Jackie Chan . He had a few of those .

As crazy as they look, everything was designed for a reason. Apparently the rear spoiler is more for straight line stability rather than downforce, seems doing 200km /h on dirt can make these things a tad loose.
Iirc Ralliart used to offer kevlar pieces to replace the production bits, along with kevlar window blanks and other bits.
It's a travesty the Evo 2 Pajero never happened, longer wheelbase, more powerful V8, better suspension, tricky diffs and similar weight. Some claim Mitsubishi's finacial issues killed it, other say the FIA threatened to ban them.

If I’d bought my car from Jackie Chan, trust me it would be one of the first things I would have boasted about :-)

So coincidentally on the way home from work i saw something very similar to this, didn’t have the wide flares but was a shorty and had IRS - was it just a cooking model? What engine did they have?

I have always had a soft spot for these beasts!!!

The engine note, even at idle, is attention grabbing to say the least.

Checkout the drift works channel on YouTube for the DynoTorque LS swapped one.
Owner said the UK got them as UK delivery cars and not grey/personal imports which I thought was interesting.

                          Great buying babs.

The UK situation is abit of a strange one, technically they were imported via Mitsubishi in the UK, but they aren't actually UK specific spec. Due to the quota system for Japanese vehicles at the time Mitsubishi in the UK were only allowed to import a very small number of cars from Japan, similar to our low volume import rules which allowed the Evo 6.5 over here through Mitsubishi Australia. Basically the UK were able to grab a small number of Pajero Evos from the Japanese market and got them type approved for sale in the UK.
