What is the Achilles heel(s) on these fine steeds?

I imagine parts would be getting harder and harder to source 30 years later?

Where do you guys source the parts? USA or UK/Germany?
Mostly USA. Pelican parts and 928sRus
Lots of minis & mokes including a G13b powered Sports Sedan, a couple of Swift Gtis, a Goggomobil, Porsche 928S, Polo Gti, BMW 540i, a WRX and a few others.

Parts availability seems plentiful, but you may have to go overseas. Normal service items can be easily got from specialists or places like Pelican/FCPEuro. In terms of Achilles heels, and I'm not the foremost authority here, the biggest is deferred maintenance. These cars cost money to run and have been cheap to buy for a long time, so many have not been maintained accordingly. There are other 928-specific things that can bite you, such as thrust bearing failure in the engines on auto cars, torque tube issues and a few others. But they are built like tanks so rarely fall apart unless things are neglected.

          Fabulous stuff !

Yes, 928's R US for parts and of course Rennlist 928 forum for all the knowledge you'll ever need.

I'm glad to have owned one, also happy to no longer own it. They are such a capable car that they are rather frustrating in Australia, by the time you get that rear axle steering you are in license losing territory.

Well, the car has been handed over for transport!

Had a final chat with the previous owner (because now it belongs to me.. yikes!), one last walk around the car on the phone and many pictures taken. Next time I see it, it'll be in real life!!

            Those hips....

Oh, and FLI355, he was most amused to have been spotted - was definitely him. Says he wasn't really getting up it either, it just sounds mean because of the exhaust on it.

The wiring harness and circuitry on these is next level.

I too would love one, but after working on one, id rather live that dream vicariously.

And I would have to accompany him to supervise of course to ensure only appropriate shenanigans....

Let the little bloke sit in the front and you try to squeeze into the back seat.
The rear sun visors are hilarious!

If there isn’t it would be damn close. I can still see the wiring in the passengers footwell when I close my eyes and that was 22 years ago. Nightmares.

don't have to worry too much about matching the wiring colours at the fuse box...
