Talk to me about Mud Terrains

Looking for a set of muddies in 265/75/16

    Current short list is

    - BFG KM2

    - Federal Couragia

    - Maxxis Bighorn

As usual I've read positive and negative reviews on all 3.

Federals are ahead at the moment because they're $425 cheaper for the set than the BFG.

    Anything else to consider?

Anybody know of any good deals in Brisbane?
No. Driving an esky along the footpath will be the end humanity. This must be stopped.

    BFG's > Chinatown.

Hacketts are cheapest in Bris by far. PF member too I believe. Not sure if they are parallel imports or not, but fuck it, get amongst it...

Bighorns are good quality but typically noisy and overpriced compared to what they used to be. Too dear to choose instead of bf's now.

I'm on my second set of bfg's now and have done some decent trips and have never had an issue. First set did 70k km's which I was happy with.

Paid $350ea for 315/75/16 so not exactly an expensive tyre anymore.

              '02 twin-locked TD42 GU Patrol

Ok 200 per tyre ive been selling them the last year without a negative feedback. Only 1 guy that ripped them up in shale in the nt.. do a search on them . Best value for money in my opinion.

I got less than 20k out my Buckshots (predecessor of BigHorn) before they were completly fucked. A mate who got tyres at a similar time went with the BFG, he's done 110k on them, tread is now no good for off-road but recons he will go another 15k on the road before swapping them, so probably 6 times the life I got, I saved how much a tyre? :S

I have Achilles Desert hawk M/T on my Amarok atm

                        About $200ea fitted

I am a massive fan of the BFGs, but twice the price, and for what and the KMs I do these are just fine, and they look tough as fuck down maccas.

They are nosier than BFG M/Ts

If traction is what you are after then get silverstone ex117. Noise is fixed by wearing ear muffs when driving on formed roads

Having said that, on my current toy car I have kumo kl71 tyres and am very happy with them.

The last set of A/Ts I bought (a month ago) had USA stamping.

I'll look more closely on our KM2 equipped work trucks...

Average life of the BFG appears to be double the others so for 1.4x the price I'll go with them. Will give Hacketts a ring this week sometime. I wonder if Bob Jane will honour the 10% price beat guarantee?
