My first car (that I was allowed to drive) was a 93 liberty wagon write off nearly ended up dead.

poverty pack VL... liked nothing about it, was a pile of shit, it was $300 with rego over the value of $300 and thats what i could afford. used it to deliver pizzas, attend school and pretend i was competing in the ARC of kowen forrest on weekends.
it achieved good hang time off water bars, large speed humps, and anything else ramp shaped, i rooted 3 girls in it, drowned and hydro locked it a few times, many single leg skids, a lifter died, lasted another month till it spun a bearing which we un-spun then threw a rod and i still managed to deliver it to the scrap metal yard under its own steam with a port hole in the block.
dont miss it in the slightest... i now own another vl:knock:

'74 Datsun 240K GT and '74 Civic, both of which I bought for myself. The Civic was a daily runner as the 240K had rust in the turret and rear quarters but god it was fun to drive in a straight line. 240K ended up at the wreckers and the Civic was sold off (Fred Flintstone floors that I hadn't noticed until my feet got cold in winter) - it was one of a string of first gen Civics I owned in conjunction with TA22s, Torana's, Statesman, Mitsu Scorpion etc.... I miss all of my '70s cars.

Ha, I had a red GSR that I bought in 1997 for $3000. Rebuilt the engine, put 3 turbos through it, exhaust, intercooler and other random bits and pieces. Kept it for 10 years and took it to queensland, where (after changing the turbo again) i went for a drive without having bolted the bonnet down. Got to about 80km/hr and it flew off, destroying the bonnet when it landed behind me.Originally posted by Race Spec View PostPicked up a stock red Mitsubishi Cordia GSR Turbo back in 1998, and was one of the first in the country to drop a DOHC 2.0L VR4 motor under the bonnet. Back in the day (circa 2000), it squeezed out 150fwkw's and used to destroy brand new WRX's (as well as Jap imports) and HSV's best offering at the time :D
I owned it for a decade and threw a shit load of money at it- to me, it had a lot of sentimental value hence why I held onto it, but it eventually got defected. I decided to part it out- I pulled the motor out and sold a stack of other parts back in 2008, and sold the fully engineered rolling shell for $3K.
The guy who bought it off me finally got it back on the road only recently.
A pic back from 2000...

I gave up at that point and sold it to my boss for $1000 who planned to use the engine and seats in an off-road buggy. That was in 2008.
I badly wanted a starion but in hindsight the fwd understeeryness of this probably saved me many times. Were you part of the yahoo groups or cordiapower that eventually spawned rogercordia?

Bought my LJ off an old bloke in Ipswich in 2003 when I was 15, he was the second owner, full logbooks etc. People in Ipswich had been hassling him for years to buy it off him but he refused to sell it to a local because he thought they would ruin it. It was blue with white roof, looked beautiful, took it away that day for $3000.
10 years on and Ive still got it, its currently having a bare metal resto done which has been in progress for 2 years. No rush, Ill never sell it.

Fuck, I paid $6K for mine back in 1998 but it was immaculate with low km and was a one owner (lady).Originally posted by Grungle View PostHa, I had a red GSR that I bought in 1997 for $3000. Mine ended up having 250fwkw's with Kaaz front LSD, $7K custom paint job etc. It would blow my Evo away in a straight line.
Yeah, I was a member of Cordiapower (EVO85) and also a member/troll on Roger Cordia's own forum. Posted images of tub girl in more than 100 thread's before he banned me lolMallala Motorsport Park - 1:11.71 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tY85CK31if8

Bought a 91 model MU off a dodgy dealer on Parramatta road, was supposed to buy the mint 96 civic vti (vtec yo!) across the road but he had sold it while i went to the bank to get cash.
MU had a flat tyre and fucked suspension but i had cash burning a hole in my pocket.
belted the fuck out of it for a couple of years on the road and the bush, snapped a timing belt then brought another MU
put my old motor that i rebuilt in it and belted the shit out of it in the bush and on the road, right up untill my mate borrowed it and hit a cow.
I will definatley be buying another one in a couple of years.

So was mine...I bought it off my aunt, and she still had the original sale receipt and brochures. She only got a cordia because she couldn't afford a celica.Originally posted by Race Spec View PostFuck, I paid $6K for mine back in 1998 but it was immaculate with low km and was a one owner (lady).

Mine ended up with 74fwkw and a fuel leak, but still did 220.

A 1969 Alfa Romeo 1750 GTV. I was the coolest kid in my street.

The fuel tank nearly fell out due to rust...it was held in by the filler hose at one point.
I'm reasonably certain it would have by now transformed back into natures basic elements.
Fark I'm old.A lot of people go through life doing things badly. Racing’s important to men who do it well. When you’re racing, it... it’s life. Anything that happens before or after... is just waiting.

First car was a 1971 Triumph 2000 auto. Looked good from a distance, cut and polished it for months after I bought it until I could legally drive. Alternator died, email brand of all things, bent a carby needle, don't ask how, and discovered the waterpump impeller was full of holes which meant it would pump water OUT of the water pump pulley. That car wasn't the best for a hot Canberra summer, I watched the fuel boil in the fuel pump after my yr 12 exam. Abit of a bitch since it meant I had to cancel something a whole lot more fun. Ended up blowing the rear main seal after doing a top speed run, saw a very optimistic 100mph on the speedo then remembered the brake booster didn't work. Sold the car to the Canberra Triumph club who used it as spares, I had a complete spare dash out of a 2500 that was mint plus a couple of sets of wood trims and some NOS full wheel covers. I want another one, 2.5PI manual with webasto roof this time.

I had a 350hp VH sedan. I'm pretty sure it has turned itself into iron ore by now. I'm still not sure how I survived my P's with that car in the Adelaide Hills. The only slightly modern thing it had going for it was a vacuum brake booster, it had no anti-roll bars and it wallowed around like you wouldn't believe...

My first was a KE35, which ended up in a cube after a truck lost brakes on a hill and ploughed into the back of it. Got an Alfa 75 after that, for about a month, no idea where it is now. Mini in the UK is still languishing in a mates garage and hasnt been started since i drove it at Brands in 2005. My AE92 which i cut my teeth on mechanically has been rebuilt about 4 times by the guy who bought it from me, he keeps crashing it. No idea on most of the others though.Chris
