72 TC Cortina, 2 litre auto. Piece of crap but it got me around for a few years. Gave it to my sister while she was at uni and she used it for a couple of years.
It got written off when an old guy ploughed into it so the engine was kept and put into a MK1 Escort with a Celica 5 speed. The engine and Celica box is still alive in my mates MK1 Escort.

first car I drove regularly was a 1926 Buick buckboard my old man bought in 1970 for spare parts, drove around the back yard when I was 5, got a half day off school when I was 8 to take my sisters class for rides on the back of it one day, she is 3 years older than me, but had no interest in driving, bought a Datsun 1000 wagon for $400 when I was 15, got my L's on my 16th birthday, and p's the following day, would have rusted away many years ago now...

Possibly worst car in this thread, TM magna with no fan (a/cs for rich cunts), radio, p/s and a permanently deflating to 15psi front left tyre.

But I got an SE interior in brown cloth for free, super spec autobarn sports steering wheel for less than gluing it to stop rolling and importantly 5 sp manual. Cost me a radiator hose after I tried to kill it and no oil change in 2 years.

Now rusting at dads waiting for it to go through it's GTHO phase when i can sell it for the same price as that gonad that wants for his super starion.

Haven't seen my first car for close to a decade now - 85 RB Gemini which I sold to a girl as her first car in 2001 and last seen in 2003. RTA search shows the rego number is no longer registered and it's doubtful anyone would have gone to the trouble of keeping it alive for this long. Having said that if I came across it somewhere I'd buy it back just for old times' take, even though it was no world beater.

Edit: Just did a gumtree search and it seems there's a surprising number of these things still alive, so you never know...

The car i learned in was an LX torana. Its sitting in front of the old man's place rusting peacefully until we sort out some space to start restoring it.

first car i drove i regularly was an '89 Leone wagon. Was written off a decade ago by an uncle. Next thing i drove regularly was an ED falcon, still in the family and still runs well/handles like a boat. Then the first car i owned outright was a '96 Accord which is still have. The last car i can remember being sold in my immediately family was my grandfather trading in a valiant for that Leone in '89; they all either hang around or have been written off.

I had a 1983 Mazda 626 "luxury edition", which meant it was auto, power windows/sun roof, digital dashboard etc. All in all I probably would've been able to get a lot of poon with that car back in 1983. It was written off when an old man drove through a give way sign at a T-intersection.

First car was a '90 Holden Barina bought in mid '02. Paid $3000 or something like that. Probably double what it was worth. It was for sale, therefore I had to have it. Spent too much on stereo and ricer shit. De-badged it, deleted the rear wiper, tinted some lights, and the windows. Put it off the road one rainy afternoon. Went for a wild ride through the scrub, and came to rest against a pine tree. Thought it was fairly fucked, but once we got it home, it wasn't too bad. Cost me $800 in parts to fix it, replacing the bonnet, bumper, lights, mirror and rack. Every decision I made with that car defied common sense. I only put about 60,000klms on it in 2.5 years, which wasn't bad considering I'd driven it to Melbourne once, and Tamworth maybe 3 times. By that stage the motor had over 200,000klms on it, and needed a rebuild. The box was fucked, and the clutch would slip.

Sold it to some old drunkard in early '05, having bought an S12 as a project, and another one as a daily. Haven't seen it for a while, but I'd say he still has it. He even went to the trouble of sourcing new badges and a rear wiper.

Not sure I want it back.

Great car. Low km, good condition. Sold it to a fat dickhead who let it go into ruin. Haven't seen it in years, I suspect it is in celica heaven.

Datsun 240KGL, then VP Wagon (manual!). Wagon was great for chucking mattresses and slurries in the back.

Got this when I was 16 and slowly turned it into something pretty, put a fairlane interior, stereo, cam, extractors and LSD. It was a bit of a slug but I think that is ideal for a P plater, I couldn't get myself into too much trouble.
Sold it at 21 and haven't seen it since.

                      Good times!

First car was a hand me down FB Holden I was given in 1972 by my parents had (almost got an EH Wagon, but they traded that one in on a HG and kept the FB because the FB had more rego left on it).

I learned a lot of stuff in that car ... double de-clutching, driving without a clutch, driving using just top gear, and all that paid off in later years.

When I think about it, I can't believe how many problems I had with that car in just 12 months.
                        • one tyre blowout at speed (only the best quality 6.40-13 retreads for that car)
                        • head gasket went between #2 and #3 (off with its head)
                        • #5 spat a ring out the exhaust valve (learned all about pulling out motors and doing budget rebuilds ... just wack in a single new piston and rings ... don't bother with stuff like honing, or new bearings). I wanted a bra
                        • king pins needed replacing (both were worn out to the point of being dangerous)
                        • the hydraulic clutch lost all its fluid in peak hour traffic in the Albion 5 ways (January 1973, on my way to the used car lot to trade it in)

Got $100 as a trade-in on a 1971 6 cylinder LC Torana (with the 4 speed Opel box, and drum brakes all 'round). I wanted a brand new LJ XU-1, but I was $1000 short in my savings (the used LC was $2600, and the new XU-1 was $3600) and discovered that I also couldn't afford the insurance on an XU-1.

1990 L series wagon, i weber'd it, lifted it, fucked around in it, mudded it, then put in a EA82T. finished uni and sold it to buy an RS wagon.
sort of knew the owner, then found out much later it was on the front of the newspaper. 2 abo gang of 49 members stole it, went on a police chase down king willy road (the police pulled out), then they tried to turn a corner - fail in an L series, hit a gutter and then a stobie pole. fucked it proper.
