Hey Bill what type of slicks were you using , Radials or Bias ply ?
Our usual tyre, the Dunlop crossply you can't get anymore and we didn't think there was enough time to set the car up for radials so wanted to stick to crossplys. That left us with Avons as the only choice. I'd prefer not to buy Avons as Bernie Eccelstone owns Avon, but with a choice of one, what else can you do?
When these tyres are gone, we'll take the time to set the car up for radials.
Here's some photos of the bent bits.
Lower-right trailing arm, all banana-shaped.
The panel just above the pinion flange where it started to eat through, just below my elbow.
And the upper-left trailing arm, where the front mount is nearly pulled out.
Are the fields always that poor for a "Nationals" Bill ??
Yeah pretty much. There's never more than about twenty cars running around in Aus at any given time. In retrospect, I should have not started on the Mallock (the new car replacing the current one) and built something like a Sports Sedan instead.
OT: Sports Sedans have had huge grids of late from watching the National round at Oran Park.
The car looks like a real handful to drive with the vibration. It doesn't still have its "13" numbers down the side? haha
No, it's interesting to drive because of the 82.5" wheelbase. That's up to 10" shorter than the other cars. The wheelbase to track ratio is only 1.5:1, so it's really twitchy when pushed hard, kart-like. Most of the good cars are up around 1.7:1 or longer.
And yeah it's still #13, been on the car since 1990, never gonna change. My Dad used 13 from the late 50's.
Looks pretty wild coming off the bridge- was it flicking sideways over the bump there?
PS I like how whenever you post a video it involves you overtaking at least 3 other cars :D
Don't think it got sideways there, but it is always twitcy when pushed. I was having a good look at the car yesterday, trying to plan some of the things to do for the rebuild .... I was seriously tempted to add another 8" to the wheelbase ...
P.S. in that video (the only one I have unfortunately) no-one overtook me. :D

Sports Sedans suck - and their fields are pissweak too... Too expensive to be really competitive, i can't afford to play in their sandpit so i reckon they suck...
We have had pretty good grids in NSW for AF2 / Supersports, i thought the Nationals would have attracted monster grids. They don't look "that" expensive, or am i sadly mistaken ??

Mate, they're Forumla cars, take a wild guess?
And they're not much faster than my car anyway.
