engine conversions, people overcoming design drawbacks though backyard tinkering.

    quick diesels always interest me.

drag racing is teh gay though. A car thats quick, handles and can drive in peak hour traffic FTW.

I give no Fark for drag racing so doesn't really matter, but then any nicely built machine gets respect no matter what it does/is.

        12 second car for $5k.
        11 second for $8k
        10 second for $15k.

        That's my simple view :D

yonks ago in zoom there was a datto 1200 with a SR20 in it that was a complete sleeper, complete with hubcaps etc.
I forget the guy's name, but he built a few other sleepy looking cars as well.
Anyhoo, had the chance to check out the SR'd 1200 in action one day and it truely was a nice peice of kit. Minimal outlay for maximum surprising fun.

Any 11sec FWD car (on street tyres) commands a lot of respect in my eyes. Hell, Dave Homer's one is almost cutting 10s!!!

restecp - if you give it you get it. simple. Have a go - it's not that hard really.
The liquid hydrogen turbopump is slightly larger than an automobile engine (weighing approximately 700 lb) and produces nearly 70,000 hp (52.2 MW).

If they were Victorian cars then that was probably Rob, same guy that built the white "Mazdabator" Datto 1200 with a s6 13bT. Same guy also has built a clubman with an SR20t. :worship: Friend of a friend at work.

                    For me respect to:
                    Sleepers
                    Home built
                    Low and zero budget builds
working with factory parts as much as possible
                    good engineering
can stop and go around corners too

Anyone prepared to have a go rather than sit on the sidelines & pull their pud over how much power their car makes on the dyno.
A trading post special bolted together with S/H parts & fuck all cash is far more worthy of respect than a 1000HP $100 000 dyno queen thats never run a time.
At the other end of the scale John Zappia running his doorslammer on 1/2 the budget of most other teams whilst setting records & winning races - much respect.
Trick & Mansweto's capri - in the low 7's on the motor - fuck thats fast.

Muz, are your budgets for strip only cars or street registered, safe & drivable cars?

Does he need to buy a shitter toyota cressida and stuff a 2jznoshit into it till his knuckles bleed to get restecp???

I give respect to home builders that use a bit of ingenuity. As long as the car does what it is meant to do on a reasonable budget. Be it quarter mile racing, quick street car, or circuit car.

I give respect to home builders that use a bit of ingenuity over the usual paths.
The guy gets respect, but not the same sort of respect as if he built his own car (this is an automotive forum). If he made the cash being a dentist he gets dental respect, but fuck all respect for engineering his car because all he done was pay for it. Does being rich gain you respect alone? He deserves respect if he wins a lot of races in his new V8 supercar for being a good driver and privateer.

Does he need to buy a shitter toyota cressida and stuff a 2jznoshit into it till his knuckles bleed to get restecp???
Yes the dude you built his own 2JZ Cressida with next to no outside help does deserve respect IMO.

i think that anyone who gives it a good hard go deserves respect.

                                Amen Simon!!!

i agree comletely! No one will respect everything that is built. Like teh ricers out there that think american mussle is pieces of shit and FF3 was the best cause it had a shit car "mustang" witha good motor rb26dett.
Actually that is the wrong way round. it was a good car with a shit motor for that car.

Respect is something that the majority of the younger kids dont have.... i hat commonwhores but i will respect one that is well looked after.
