MOTOR use a quarter tank and only the driver in the car these days, but I do remember that previously they did it with a passenger and more fuel than that.

      That's just silly!
Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.

I think it is interesting how the 200 kg heavier Mazda 6 MPS does quicker laps times than the 3 MPS. Must say something about the relative handling abilities and/or abilities to put the power down, of both cars.

this is why i bought the 6 over the 3 it much more fun to drive though corners.
the 6mps is 206kw on 98 octane same as wrx sti on 98 octane. but mazda only state power figures on 95 in australia. 3 mps is like 194kw still on 98 as it runs a different fuel and ignition maps

Hey Skizz have you had any of the rear diff issues that seem to be effecting several MPS6 owners.

Is there a reputable source for this information? As far as I was aware the motor in the 3MPS and 6MPS is identical.

Mazda claim they're slightly different states of tune, and the 3 has less power; they might lie for sales reasons though, I guess.

They do? Where do they claim this?

I have the specs on my screen from mazda.com.au side by side and they both have 190kw @ 5,500rpm and 380Nm @ 3,000rpm and engine related specs look identical in all respects.

Hmm, indeed ... either they've changed since release, or I was going on 'speculation numbers'.

There were some early numbers that said 184kw - and in the end they gave us the full 190. Nice of them.

I followed a Mazda 6 MPS onto the freeway this morning. What's going on with the exhaust exit? Big 3-4" tail pipes fed by 20c piece sized pipe. Looks stupid.
