One Gpn Mustang driver reputedly spent $60k on clutches and more on 3 gearboxes and 2 engines this year alone...if you can believe the gossip from his mechanic.
He must not be able to drive if he has done 60k in clutches :knock:
Racing at state level is affordable if you just want to race - and don't gamble, drink much, smoke or have any other interests. If you want to win, racing gets very expensive. And for most, no matter how much money you have, you still won't win. There is always some prick with less talent and more money than you. That said, I love racing.
Go for a state series where cars can be purchased already built and spare parts are plentiful. Then make friends with a tyre place, a panel beater and a parts place at the very least.
A slow day at the track is better than any day in the office.
You can get a cheap radical from the UK.
The west thing is a potential dud except for the bloke who wants to make money from the series. One make racing in aasa...pretty limited ATM as far as venues and who is going to do it? usually people with money, so we get into a money battle again. The cars themselves are fine, but they simply do not meet the rules for any class (you can't run one in supersports), so what do you do with it when the series stops or a new car is introduced?
Stooge you might think that but I cant possibly comment about a 350 shelby mustang.
I don't care a damn for your loyalty when you think I am right; when I really want it most is when you think I am wrong.

Depending on where you are, go to a state round & check out what sort of one make racing is running (& isnt running on a national level). Qld has geminis & Cals MX5 series, Vic has E30 BMs & 944 Porsches...no idea on other states.
The Production Sports Car Class is getting better all the time. There are 5 X 1hr endurance races next year, if that floats your boat. Two at Eastern Creek, one at Phillip Iland, one at Oran Park and one at QR. Cheapest option is an MX5 or Porsche 944. If you have a lot of cash, buy a Ferrari 430. http://www.prodsports.com.au/

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe, and from this side only! The flight of a half-man, half-bird. Dinosaurs nuzzling their young in pastures where strip-malls should be. Cookies on dowels. All those moments lost in time; gone like eggs off a hooker's stomach. Time to die.

Just looking through the my105 page, why so many seemingly cheap Nc cars? too expensive to run? Too expensive to keep up with faster ones?

Think of all the time you will save being at least 30 sec per lap faster at every circuit!
That's wonderful, but who are you going to race against? Notice the photos are taken at Mt Cotton Hillclimb. Racing self FTL.

They have a series for both of the cars that run in it...it keeps changing its name.
I had a cunning plan...in 4 (might be 3) years time, the 1st F Holdens will be eligible for historics. They have good open wheeler fields & you could smoke the lot of em
if your just looking for fun and you have a half respectable car , take it to a local track day for some timed laps.
its not racing but you say your into fun over actually trying to win anything , so why bother with all the hassle/expense ?
chances are you will have a bit of a dice with something out there anyway , and because theres nothing at stake you wont walk away with a bent car.
its win/win
