Ahh ok. What are they doing different for next year?
I've seen things you people wouldn't believe, and from this side only! The flight of a half-man, half-bird. Dinosaurs nuzzling their young in pastures where strip-malls should be. Cookies on dowels. All those moments lost in time; gone like eggs off a hooker's stomach. Time to die.

The Biante Series will no longer run to Historics regs - meaning more modifications (more $$) and advertising able to be run on the cars (strict no-no in Historics). I think the Biante will implode due to the massive costs of trying to stay competitive against the likes of Stubber and Co. Still, seeing those old Mustangs getting sideways gets the blood pumpin....

What about Aussie Legends? Those things are fucking awesome. Cost about 40-50k to buy. They don't seem to get much damage, and the racing is close.
Don't be a hoon. Join a car club and do it on the track.

milk & juice may come in 2 ltrs, but CHEAP WINE comes in 5 litrs

None of the classes listed come close to superkarts for speed or low costs.
My 250cc (single cyl, not the quickest twin cylinders) lapped Wakefield in 60.3, EC in 1:37, QR full circuit in 1:15 and sold for 9k. Running expenses are good because it's only a small frame with not alot of moving parts and tyres last for a few meetings.
If you spend 15-20k, you will get a twin cyl that will match or beat all V8 times in the country. Running costs probably go up 50% but a season will still cost less than 20k (including everything).

but there is also the issue of safety and karts do not do well in that regard. A wheel came off a kart at sandown, turned hard right into wall along the main straight, kart was a mangeled mess and driver was unconcious in the middle of the track for a long time before they moved him.

I believe you require rather large aggots to drive Superkarts.

Karts are also not cars...I havent driven many but all those I did drive (2 250supercarts, 1 rotax & 1 clubman) left me knowing damn well I wanted nothing more to do with them.
                  I just didnt like it...

A mate of mines Dad bought his mid-life crisis mobile a few years ago, a late 60's clubman car that runs a heavily worked toyota 3k engine (twin 40mm webbers on avgas!). It's a track/tarmac rally car only but he's had lots of fun with it. Old enough to run historics, quick enough to lap Mallala in 1.18 with his son at the wheel (ex state karting champ) and cheap enough to enjoy regularly. Plus it does the "Climb to the Eagle" every year and is eligible for other tarmac rally events like Classic Adelaide and Targa. If only I could fit in the damn thing!

Apparently Stubber isn't racing next year in historics or soemthing plans to race in another catergory or perhaps he will be racing the torrie in the states more

Is the cycle guards that turn you off clubmans? Or the fact the exhaust keeps hitting the passengers arm?

Seriously, this old clubman (3k + 5-speed box + Escort diff) is a triumph of ingenuity over common sense. It was cheap, it's fun, and only every now and again do they need to replace pistons (custom ducati jobbies) and headgaskets (11.5 comp ratio).
