'Rims' instead of 'wheels', wheels have rims FFS.

'Ride' instead of 'car' or 'drive', as in "Look at my ride", you ride a motorbike, you drive a car, FFS again.

There's a running joke in aus.cars with the standard response to any cretin using the term 'suv' (unless they are dyslexic and referring to a dick wolf series) of, "What's a SUV?". This is done no matter how many times they define the mnemonic.

Frankly I think Howard should have embraced a relationship between Australia and the U.S.A. much like Canada has where the USA has all the nuclear weapons, and Canadians show them on the maps where North Korea, or the Middle East actually is.

I'll go one worse. I've mentioned in a post way back I've worked nightclubs on and off for years. One of the things popping up at some hip hop nights (which in and of themselves is a problem demanding capital punishment) that younger chaps are walking up and speaking with (fake, not that that matters) American accents. My usual response is something like, "Contrary to your belief, Doveton is not a suburn in or around south-central Los Angeles, so piss off the fucking accent you wanker"

To be fair, it would be a mistake to guage American society by American media, but I do think that if we were to acquiesce to any outside influence, that the types of things we currently are seeing would have to be about the bottom of the barrel thereof.
