Tonight i got waved to the side of the road by roadside RBT for the first time in the new car. After counting to 10 and inspecting my licence the officer says " do you have a pod filter mate? " i reply with yes, then he says " i can hear it from here sucking in air, is it boxed up? because if i send you to epa they can fine you 2000 dollars for not having it boxed"
i was  because its the first ive heard of pods having to be boxed especially on a n/a car!! i know that law in nsw is with turbo cars you either have a pod or a cooler not both.
then he looks at my wheels and says " those wheels are a bit big also, what are they 19s or 18s? " i replied 18s and he told me i should be engineered to have those wheels on my car to avoid getting in trouble.
he was nice about it thats why you dont see me talking shit about him, just a friendly warning thats all.
when did the law for pods come in? i can understand about the wheels but a pod needing to be boxed on a n/a car?
would i get in shit if i just ran a cold air intake system instead??
Plus two applies in QLD for rim increases, unless this has changed in the last year or two.
Your insurance CANNOT be voided unless the illegal mod can be proven to have prejudiced the insurer's position. It must be proven to contribute to the claim, and they can only deny the percentage of the claim that the mod caused... which means they can't flatly deny your claim unles they can show/surmise that the claim would never have happened without that mod.
Vic laws says that the replacement rim must not be more than 25mm wider than the largest rim available from the manufacturer for that make or series of vehicle -
interpretation: example VE commodore - you could fit 1" wider than whatever the largest HSV 20" rim avail ??
and
Overall diameter of RIM and TYRE combination must not be 15mm more than the largest available RIM and TYRE combination as made available by the manufacturer for the model or series of vehicle
interpretation: No mention of "plus 2 etc" - as long as your tyre profile allows you not to exceed the 15mm more for the largest tyre/rim cobo (commodore for example is 20 rim plus tyre) so you could go 21" rim ??? (not that I would)
as long as
it does not rub/foul/extrude from/against body of vehicle.
so there you go??
The liquid hydrogen turbopump is slightly larger than an automobile engine (weighing approximately 700 lb) and produces nearly 70,000 hp (52.2 MW).

eric, our good friend Cuntstable Pettit says a HSV is a different manufacturer from Holden. With Calais V VE now having 20's its no biggie, but on the older Commodores, you (according to him) cant put 20's on your VX because a VX HSV came with 19s.
