Police quote : Stolen vehicles are very low on our priority list
This is pretty funny. When my car got stolen, i went to local cop shop, after doing days of my own sitting on my arse, and searching gaydar.com, and finding where the car was located (in a shed at the back of my neighbour's house in Kingston - QLD), they helped me retrieve my car back, that day. They did 3 raids, 6 people got arrested, They all wore a bullet proof vest and was involved in the arrests too. If it wasnt for me there to get morning tea down the station, how I love carrot cake..., there is no way i would of got the car back with out some form of lewd sexual acts

Dude, how old are u and WTF are u on? cause u clearly have no idea. Cops WILL nail u for doing burnouts in front of them and i KNOW both TJ and Denver (two other perth boys) will agree with me
lol, in york, about 1hr from perth, burnouts occur regularily around the place, cops dont really seem to care, and one of the cops, his son is one of the guys that does them, but none of them are yet to get a fine, even when doing a burnout in the mainstreet
btw, york has a population of like 3000, everybody knows everybody..
btw, york has a population of like 3000, everybody is related to everybody..

Senior detective sgt Schmidtt helped me out with a couple of other officers. After it, i drove my car, to my mechanic at the time (not my stolen car), and showed them the bullet proof vest and plates they gave me to use.
The guy who we arrested N.P (his initials, european kid from woodridge), was known to these guys. The reason why they helped me out so quick and also did raids, using me to lure the guy in, was because 2 weeks earlier, these guys had stolen some ones motor bike, then went to sell it back to him, when he rocked up with the cash, they bashed the guy, took his cash and his money.
The address of were my car was found is:
Cnr of North and Casius Street, 2nd house down on North street. Big green shed in back yard. Were the car was being stored, there was 4 people there. Some bloke, his gf and parents. All knew aboout the car, and knew it was stolen. So all were arrested.
I dont mind answering any questions at all. At logan central police station, ms constable chuppa chup was not so help ful initially, until they got a call from another police station i visited earlier.
I reckon he should try to sue the cops for whatever is vaguely possible, get some decent media exposure by doing that if you can't get it through other channels.
but I'm seriously in love with this thing ...the pure uselessness and dickheadness of this mustang makes it the most enjoyable car I've ever driven, its fucking STUPIDLY loud for no reason, it gos real fast but wont slow down, they have made the suspension real hard and yet and it wont corner worth a shit. theres something very Aussie about it, like the drunk guy who makes a hat out of watermelon.
Car has now been recovered by the police, but not yet returned to the customer until the investigations are completed... I do not know how much damage (if any) has been done to the car) Police have not told the tracking company, and the client is yet to see the car.. The client is very releived that it is at least recovered. He is still considering taking the matter to the media..
The LAC at the "Larger/regional" police station called the other station and wanted to know what was going on. A bit of too-ing and fro-ing I guess went on, and the "LAC" took over the case and arranged for a search warrant at about 8:00am The car was recovered very shortly after this and it is now being held in the police impound yard.
I don't know if anyone was arrested, but I can say that there will be a full investigation by the police as the matter has been taken "much much further" (PF trademark)
The LAC was VERY apologetic to both the client and tracking company and he promised he would follow up on the matter as it was unacceptable..
This has become a bit of a political issue too, with a minister now involved..
Glad to see there was a result at the end.
My experience suggests that is an unusual case - we generally get very good response from the coppers.
I will be interested to see the "fallout" from this.
Hopefully it will mean it won't happen again :knock:
Muz,
Nah not jumping the gun at all, the police stolen vehicle report was lodged early on Saturday morning when it was discovered missing. The tracking company located the vehicle immediately after they were advised it was stolen and give the exact location to the police as soon as they had the report number/confirmed it was stolen etc. The police refused / didn't / couldn't / wouldn't (whatever the case) to recover the vehicle until LOTS more pressure was put on them from sources somewhat higher. ie, the car could have been stripped in this 48+ hours that the police were sitting on their hands.
DCR,
It's not an article that I reposted or read about - I was involved and it happened just last weekend
Gaz,
As per our chat, it appears that all the dealings were done via the local station, not the control room etc. Only after it was escalated to the LAC, was any real action taken. Perhaps the control room should be the first port of contact for them in future. Although he told me they have not has this sort of problem before in Sydney.
As for why I am so passionate about this - well, there are a few reasons...
Firstly, I have a tracker in my car and I would be fucking fuming if the police showed the same (apparent) lack of care and concern about my car given the same situation.
Secondly, Trackers are a reasonably large requirement for the insurance of many of the high performance and exotic cars that we insure, - if they are being ignored, or become complacent about them, then we are in trouble and alternatives need to be found.
and finally, I would find it disgusting that the (apparent) lazy attitude of the police involved (from this station) goes unnoticed/unpunished.
As I said, It was not until the LAC became involved, that any real action to recover the vehicle occured.
Surely there is some merit in tackling car theft. It may be of a low level of pain/loss to society but if you cut off this method of crime (along with the prosperity of it) then the crims may move onto other methods or into legitimate avenues.
I guess this is similar to the rightie theory of 'ban cannabis to stop people moving onto harder drugs' that has never been proven to work.
