That is probably the best known anomaly in racing in Australia. Of course an RX7 is not a sedan, but thanks to Moffat's arguing the point in the 80's, the class ruling stands.

Wonder if they will still be eligible next year, being they are out of production? Assuming there is a next year.

          Edo: Keep me posted.
Don't worry, thats just the self-preservation instinct, in my experience you can safely ignore it.

Thats a thought...well 2 actually. Maybe avoid the 200...but yes whether there will be a 2008 race is far from certain

Nafe, I hear what your saying mate, my point was simply 3000ish is all the coin I have to play with mate to secure a seat. (Therefore it won’t happen)

Like anything there are many hidden costs that each driver would be expected to tip in for, such as the team might want you to purchase 2 or 3 sets or rubber like I did in Malaysia & perhaps a few sets of pads & discs and any other consumable items.

                Catch ya

Id probably pay $10k for a drive in the Bathurst 12 hour...not fussy on the car as long as it is reliable. (oh & the other drivers are unlikely to crash)

It is Edo we are talking about. He will build it, but it might not be ready to race until the 2015 24hr race.

The possibility exists of an arrive-and-drive sort of arrangement in a late EVO I'm told for this year. Was going to be a 2 car team, but because of the usual driver money problems, it's now proposed to be taken to Bathurst for potential spares.

The amount mentioned to me was 15k a seat (4? drivers). You'd hope nobody stuffs it into the wall in first practice.

My next door neighbour ran a 200sx and a 350z in GTP. Both were spectacularly uncompetitive. Unless the rules are different, I wouldn't expect this to change.
