LPG obviously has it's bonuses with the $$$ saved at the pump, but at the same time you'll lose (vital?) cabin space for your camera gear.
really at the end of the day, a 6 cyl magna/camry/falcon/commo will provide roughly the same service as each other for your requirements. with modern cars these days there isn't really one that will stick out as being glaringly better/worse than the rest.
dunno why a pajero is on your list, sure they're great 4x4's but they seem completely inappropriate for your requirements.

Seriously I'd go the magna. They have horrible depreciation so you should be able to get a nice one for that.
The Toyota Avalons of around that time are pretty good too. It's basically a camry.Originally posted by Crash DummyI had reason to believe that the photo could have been of a very well done tranny. I have been fooled in the past

if you can handle the cardigan image, i would probably go the camry.
as much as i love the magna's, they dont age well as far as comfort goes. mine sure as hell didnt, and neither has any other one ive ever been in.
im sure most will disagree with me here though...but when you compare it to a camry of the same age, they always seem that extra bit more comfortable, and dont feel as old'67 Volkswagen Beetle 1300cc

of course why would you need easy access to spare parts if your car is reliable in the first place? well, that's what a camry owner would tell you anyways heh....Originally posted by pdawgAU FTW! there dirt cheap for how new they are and any parts u need just off the shelf from your local car part shop.

Platinum,
FWD is not an issue - she came out of a 94 Pulsar Ti Hatch.
Dave R32
I Don't mind if it's boring - as long as it's reliable...after all, Jade has to drive it, I just want my Cressida back....
08ESE
Unfortunately BOTH of them are way outside the price range I want to spend unfortunately..
Kula,
Not a chance in HELL !!! lol
Sturmovik,
Both of those would be perfect.. trouble is they are in Victoria.. I need to get a car in Sydney and drive it down so I can take all my gear down ( too much to Fly with, and if I hire a car - I have to bring it back or pay extra for one way - that eats into my cash I have for the car unfortunately... I wouldn't let Jade go and buy it eirther, She buys on emothion, not common sense.. (To give you an idea, the list she came up with had a Smart ForTwo Coupe in it... WTF... "But it's cute" was the reasoning...)
Steve 1,
The Pajero is there as that is her "dream car" - they can be had for almost that sort of money, so I left in in there to keep her happy...
Ze,
I looked at Avalons, they are just not cheap enough unfortunately at this stage...
The ABSOLUTE MOST that I can spend on this car is $8,000 - It's only meant to be a temporary vehicle for a maximum of 18 mths until I can save a bit more and buy what we really want.. I would prefer to get out of it for closer to $5,000 - but will spend the extra for the right car...
The two cars that I have had serious looks at so far...
http://www.carsales.com.au/used-cars...atchallpartial
and
http://www.carsales.com.au/used-cars...atchallpartial
have met all the criteria and are reasonably priced, but unfortunately were both Repairable writeoffs.. so will make it very hard for me selling it later on...

Before I read this bit, I was going to punt that the Camry would be a repairable write off.Originally posted by Southohave met all the criteria and are reasonably priced, but unfortunately were both Repairable writeoffs.. so will make it very hard for me selling it later on...
Do you know why these were written off, or have you only done the REVS checks on it?
