What is your current stud pattern and size/offset?

    Comment

My current tires are 26". Stud pattern is 114.3 x 4, not sure on offset?

Angus, I forgot to find that photo I wanted, here it is. Pretty cool pic eh?

I've got a set of 26x8.5" mt et slicks on 4x114.3 simmons 15x8s. I think they are +38 offset (?) you can probably do a trial fitting if you are interested, they may not fit as an 8" rim makes for a tight fitting!

Crap photo but I guess we could enlarge it if we have to

It's funny you* start out with 3.x gears and then go lower for better performance. Then as performance increases you* need to go back to 3.x gears cause of the mph you* run

*"you" meaning people not you in particular

Going from a 26" tyre to a 27" tyre will drop trap rpm from 7000 to 6700 without touching the diff gears.
A 29" tyre will drop it to 6350rpm.
A taller tyre will also help traction a fair bit.

Cheers Angus! I am not sure if they will fit, but it is absolutely worth a try.

Well according to some shitty calculator 4.11's would have worked to 125mph. And I only had stock turbos when I fitted them. I didn't think I would ever get anywhere near 125mph. 27" tires will give me an extra 4-5mph, which isn't going to cut it. Don't think any bigger will fit.

those calcs are very accurate. They aren't 100% though for autos though because of converter slip. Go for those 27" tyres you were talking about first and see how that goes. Unless you blow a diff first :p

Well they are teh suck with an auto. I even ticked the auto box. I wonder if I can lock my converter?

Rang Mike from MV today. He said I can lock the converter under power in 3rd. WOOT!

This means that those calculators will be right eh, due to no slip?

According to this http://www.turbofast.com.au/Drag.html I will be able to go to 127.7mph with 25.5" tires and a 4.11 diff @ 7000rpm. Would I really be getting 7.7mph slip? (maxes at 120mph in 3rdm, I think the Advans are 25.5 high, not 26 can anyone confirm?)

                      Does this sound feasible?

                      And with 26" tires 130mph and 27", 135mph.

7 mile an hour doesn't sound like much slip, but yours would be a very tight converter.

So its pretty normal eh? That is one great thing about this converter, even unlocked it didn't kill my MPH at all!

Here some vids where you can see me sitting there like a dick trying to get some boost off the line. Its actually the first time I have seen it run which is interesting. You can hear the turbo kick in hard at the 60 foot line. No wonder its no good.

Not the "fully sik dose". I call it the "flipper dose" as it sounds like a beached up dolphin. :rotflol:

you still wont get zero slip

on the commo's when locking the converter at 160km/h you still see up to 150rpm slip over the line with a 3600rpm converter,

with it unlocked you will see 500+

yes we can log converter slip with the data logger
