        268/272 kelford 'time attack' cams.
Reapers car is also scoring an updated fuel system with surge tank & some more boost, probably 6-7psi.

          Time attack- hektik bro.

My wife shops at price attack- is that the same thing? :D

Thanks for the lumpy sticks Tone - these should be good.

Interestingly I noticed last night on the doco that the intake net valve lift is listed @ 10.49 mm, whilst exh. is still the website published 9.9. Dunno what's happening there? Maybe the 'birth certificate' for the parts is wrong?

            Plan now is -

            1) finish fuel (Titan triple in-tank setup, no surge needed now, will just use oem bucket inside for anti-slosh technology )

            2) run her up to check new FMIC/hoses and all the displaced parts still work

            3) whack in boom sticks

            4) tune with Seano on w/e on 98RON

            5) take to dyno, lean on it with 'chassis ear', get new numbers on same 23psi >> THIS will be the final set of numbers that will properly conclude the R&D of this thread ie.

            a) stock cams/stock porting/stock valves;
            b) porting and OS valves both sides/ stock cams
            c) porting + OS valves / phat cams

ALL on same boost of 23psi and 98RON PULP

            6) still on 98RON raise redline to 7500 and screw more boost in till she pings (this will be daily tune, to be finished with final road tune later)

Note: on this point... arguably this tune here still has some relevance to the R&D of the thread since in the old days when we dialed in 24/25 etc. psi boost it made no more power on the dyno, and as could be seen from old graph the power dipped toward top. Theory was power was cam limited at this point, and turbo pressure was being constrained by octane of 98RON also potentially. Since the conclusion of this thread is port/valves/ + CAMS - then debatably this tune could be showing "Hey, now with better top end efficiency we can use more boost EVEN on 98RON due to phatter cams". Of course raised redline will muddy waters so we may just stick to existing RL and graph max. 98 RON figures before going up in engine speed. Would be interesting I think to see this. The very first original graph I supplied (~307rwkw) was as far as we could go with pressure and timing on 98. In the end it was spitting out decimal points for the extra 2/3/4 degrees of timing so pointless.

            7) whack Tolune 67/33 mix in and quick sweep thro maps toward WOT run running as much boost until she chokes (?28/29/30 psi) - this will be race tune for dyno/strip/track work.

Should (famous last words) have these figures hopefully early/mid next week.

            Ta,
            GEE

PS- we are not going to graph the cam clearances now as I can't be arsed, that and the fact that Kelford engineers state from experience these will not have any valve to piston clearance issues and will most likely clear by 4-5mm minimum even if you were to graph them.

OK, fuel done, FMIC done, phat cams done, little road tune done (thanks to Sean and his trusty wideband again!).

Car is breaking up now on same gap plugs presumably due to higher amounts of air coming in at higher boost levels eg. 20+.

Will work on amp + plug stuff tonight and make the dyno for final figures in next few days. Will be going for a few runs >>

1.) 23 psi, same redline ie. full back to back comparison of headwork and cams (finally)

2.) raise redline to see how far cams will allow engine to rev AND make power (oem cams dipped up top as run out of puff)

3.) raise boost on top of redline to see how far 98RON will support (this will be final 'daily' state of tune, to be polished on the road later with Sean's help).

THESE runs will conclude this thread ie. headwork and cams effect compared with stock head.

Will delay Toluene max boost runs for next week I think. I'll post these results up here too just for laughs but less relevant to aim of thread.

              Cheers,
              Gaven

PS- also, thanks to Tone Loc (TK) for helping grind down the shims to clearance these cams in accurately. After he'd been given the shims in an egg box coupled with a dodgy numbering system they ALL came out within 1 thou! of target spec. Thanks Tone - you're a craftsman mate.

AIR should be open for business early December according to a good source.
I might even have the tonner ready to run by then.

only if you run wasted spark though isnt it? otherwise you can just run a slightly smaller gap.

                                Ah yes-BUT,

The in-cylinder charge density on Gavs motor will be way higher than yours due to all the breathing aids it has. (porting, valves, turbo, cams)

So-RZ, this 20+ psi breakdown is pretty common then huh?
