So besides everything mentioned I'll put my 2c in
Why not to buy
Wheels are a shit to clean
They are slugs
Wannaroo track times Tickford club v's my datto
Fastest T series 61 sec
Datto time 59 sec
As a comparison stock WRX STi 2005 57 sec
So as long as you don't want to go fast round a corner.... fine
If you want a street whale... its your dough
I didnt say i was buying the car i linked, i said i would look for the brembo package if i went with the ford.
Lol, dont buy a car because the wheels are a bitch to clean. Ive got bmw's with basketweaves, many many tight angles to trap dirt, spaces so small you cant fit your fingers in to clean them, so yeah, multi spokes are much easier when you compare it to them.
Nice comparison there. You missed the part where i said sedan and V8, not only that you then compared it to vehicles which probably weigh half a ton less than said sedans. Smaller and older cars simply dont interest me, i want a large sedan that will be able to seat 4 adults in comfort, but it still needs good brakes and decent suspension in its class. Got any times for a similar vintage SS, see how well it does against the ford

very nice, but 30k for any AU is nuts. i can't imagine they are particularly easy to sell (which may work for you ? if you plan to keep it for a long time)
you're doing a lot of talking in past tense - i tend to agree they WERE the hotness but many better things have come along since and for less $$$.
Like? for so many surposed commodore owners and experts on here, i havent heard one person mention anything about how well they handle or stop, nor anything about purchasing one. Its all been vague comments alluding to what else you can buy that is so much better, well what is better and where can you get it?

As far as the driving experience goes, for me, the ford shits on a comparable commodore from a great height. The whole feel of the drive, how the car communicates, feel of inputs, handling, etc. It may just come down to personal preference. I was given a Monaro drive car, and expected to enjoy it after all the rave reviews. Gave it back as soon as I could, just couldnt 'click' with it, disliked the whole experience. Instantly felt comfortable in the BA I replaced it with.
You might like how they drive. Go for a spin in one (if you havent) and see what you think, it could change everything.
Things I have that are NOT For Sale 4 x 550cc top feed injectors. Top feed RB25DET fuel rail.

When I say better, I'm not referring to commodores or falcons.. I wouldn't buy either.
For that money I would buy an 04-05 liberty GT or 3.0 RB. Sedan, great fun to drive, and likely to hold their value.
I did a motor for a TE50 last year, initially I wasn't told what it was, it was just dropped off by a local dealer with a 'fix this - it got cooked' tag attatched.
When I pulled it down I thought someone was pulling my leg - looked like a well built custom engine with lots of good bits, freaked a little when they told me it was a factory supplied engine.
Very nice, especially for a stock engine.
I ended up tweaking it a little for the owner, bumped the compression to 10:1, deck heighted the block, did a good valve grind & cleaned up the short turns + rebalanced it - never got figures on it, just a big thanks from the owner who said it really woke it up.
Nice car, not sure I'd have one over a BA XR8, but that's just me.
The problem is that everyone on PF sees this as a fancy AU...
We just can't get over it.
However from another perspective I can see the limited numbers, the $5,000 brakes, the $5,000 engine work... so I can just see that it's not just another AU.
For me though it'd have to be closer to $20k to be worthwhile given the cost of BA XR8s are around that and this AU isn't 50% better to warrant a 50% increase in price over a good BA+ XR8.

buy it, buy it because u want it. dont buy a commonbore because everyone here tells u to . they arnt just a AU with a fancy body kit. the reason they are worth so much is because people are prepared to pay that sort of money. why the fuck is a GTHO ph3 with $600k, because some idiot will pay that because its rare.
buy it look after it, dont mod it and in a few years time when you are bored with it you will probably have dropped a couple of grand on it when u sell it. they wont go south value wise as fast as a commonbore or falcoon XR8 because of its rarety. F6 typhoons are holding their value pretty well because people want them.
if u can afford it buy it and stick it in a shed, i can see these being worth good money in 20yrs time lol
