I reckon we need a survey.

I've seen plenty of ferals down collanades way in my time too.

Probably is swayed slightly by the fact that around double the number of people live in the northern Metro than the south - that combined with SA being the bogan state adds up.

You get the counselling after every incident such as this. It allows you to get through the 'not coping too well' part. Without the counselling you could be in all sorts of emotional shite. Not everyone needs it everytime. Perhaps the site of a motorcyclists caving his head in on a power pole was a bit much. Maybe it was the first time they have coome across something like this. I have had many a person ask me if you get used to shit like this. In my opinion, you don't get used to it, you learn how to deal with it. You can also imagine the massive payouts Governments would have to pay if they were found not providing some form of counselling after an incident like the one in the article.

I have no problem with Bogans at all. Generally they don't carry guns, try to rape your sister and/or steal your car.

That was along the lines of my point before.

My Uncle lasted around 15yrs in Major Crash or someshit - ie: if no death he didn't go there. How he lasted so long I have no idea. He told me most blokes were out in around 5 tops, and a couple went straight to the loony bin for a while immediately after as well.

I have the utmost respect for any of the Services that attend anything involving death.

              I know I couldn't handle it.

DCR, I cannot fathom how you could cope any more after seeing that. Much restecp to you sir.

The Ambo's do it tougher I think. They see it on a daily basis. I am not sure of their processes but I would assume they have to attend some form of trauma counselling regularly.

These things suck. I know you shouldn't speak ill of the dead, but someone with no experience, riding a powerful bike they are not licensed to ride, with no helmet... they get killed... and then the cops crack down on dangerous motorcyclists.

I can think of half a dozen bike fatailities in recent months that were no helmet, no license, drink-riding, etc... and these are the ones that get us all fucked on. The same goes for cars... some fwit in a Gemini does a skid outside grandma's house... a dude cruising at a reasonable speed in his modified GTR gets fucked on because he's a danger to society as his car's too low.

Clarly sad for all involved, but perhaps not such a loss to society...

DCR - This is to be taken as pure curiosity, analysis, and an attempt to understand what it's like, not be a tough cunt, just in case I am mis-interpreted.

What is it about seeing a fatal (lets use this bike rider as an example) that is hard to deal with, and how does it affect you/a person if you a) can't deal, or b) take it in your stride?

I wondered this when I found the suicide. Cops came to interview me, male and female. It was a hanging, so nothing gory. Male cop was fine, just had a chat, but the female was white, shaking, not talking. Me being a naive teenager thought she must have had the flu or something, and asked why she was shaking etc, was she sick? Male cop wasn't happy.

Is the gory side of the job, and dealing with it discussed openly much? Is there a common reason for not coping well with a scene as per OP - fear of death/mortality, resurrection of greif due to other losses in life etc?

Do not pick on Salisbury/Lizbef until and after you have picked on Hackam West, Norlunga (and all Norlunga based 'burbs) etc etc. Both those Northern shitholes are a full step above the worst of the South.

I have always found child death hard to deal with...more so now I have my own kids. I would not go through autopsy observation etc

I used to drive taxis during the uni days, did so at night for many years. Quite dangerous at times eg. Whitehorse Inn.

The worst treatment I ever got was from deluded rich/well to do wankers who thought they were better than me eg. Unley Park, Glenunga, Burnside etc.

Conversely, their shitty behaviour was matched by an amazingly aggressive drunken bitch out of Elizabeth Downs. Won't forget her in a hurry. All this was 10+ years ago.

Southerners aren't too bad but they can def. get quite feral no doubt.

My vote - when the very rich or very poor get drunk - they are the worst cunts you've ever come across! Other than that the North is actually slightly worse than South only because they have more of those sorts overall ie. volume is higher.

My 2 cents from years of seeing the WHOLE of Adelaide at their worst when they are rat arsed, aggressive, and no one is watching.

Is that cos the Northerners will just bash you, but the Southerners will stab you?

Or creep into your bedroom and night and fuck you in the ear after stabbing you. The deep South can be scary.

Salisbury etc are working on their 6th generation of unemployed since 1960. There are some real special cases down there (I say down because I live up on the hill).

you live out north, don't you?

edit: well you kinda gave this away anyhow on that last post i didn't see 'til now.

nobody said that hackham/noarlunga were wonderful suburbs just 'cos their down south, far from it. in fact i dont think areas such as woodcroft is much better really, it's just a newer extention of morphett vale.

but overall i'd still say north is worse simply due to the weight of volume.
