Yeah, but don't they all die a horrible death by 40 from inhaling paint and resin dust?

I justed talk to "mike" then. He's on his way to Bega to check out a standard impreza (non turbo) that has only had a small hit in the front for $750. He has already sold the motor for 900. Add WRX front cut = 12k profit...

Like anything i guess if you are cluey and good at what you do there are dollars to be made...

I have bought and sold a few cars over the years, the best rort was EL and EF Falcons at auction a few years ago. They'd go for around 8 grand at auction, i'd get it detailed by a mate and advertise them the same week for 13k and let the buyer "grab a bargain" at around 11k.

I got a call from an irate swede once because he found the auction receipt (dickhead me forgot to clean out the glovebox) dated a week earlier for $7,700 and he got it off me for a mere $11,250... :D
The older i get, the better i was...

I'm a spraypainter by trade things are much harder these days sometimes you stumble on a bargain but most of the time for what people ask for damaged cars by the time you factor in everything it's hard to make a decent dollar .

The trick used to be to buy repairable right off's from interstate auctions as REV's once upon a time wasn't linked interstate so bring to Sydney repair , register and sell .

As far as making money from buying and selling from auctions (non salvage). Well it's very hard these days also once you factor in what the car makes and the auction fee your pretty much on trading post value then you just got to pray there's nothing major wrong with it .

Would there be any money in getting a EVO I front cut (with rear) for 4k and fitting it to a local car? The local wrecker has a perfect donor that would only be a couple of hundred. I'm guessing the tunnel would be a PITA. And at the end of it all it's still just a replica....hmmmm....maybe I should stop thinking out loud.....
