Here's that smoother lap around the 'Ring, I did it a few days ago but couldn't upload it until now.

(Happier Neil? Just a couple of gentle touches on the kerbs, and I'm looking after the engine & gearbox. )

Looks like one of the guys I used to work with is a driver in the Ric Shaw team...lookout for Steve Borness...IIRC he drove one of the Mirages last year.

It's important to remember that it's just a sim, and I most likely won't be able to go that fast on the real thing.
The sim doesn't have all the little quirks that make up The Green Hell, so when I get there I'll have to learn it all over again .... but learn it faster!

I still reckon the sim is a good thing though as between driving something like 150 laps around it and watching lots of vids of the real thing I have a good handle on the lines needed.

Bill, whats the planned roster/rotation gonna be like per driver (has this been organized yet)? And how may laps/time will you be behind the wheel?

Dunno, we haven't talked about it yet. I suspect Colin will be starting the race then we'll sort out the order of me & Paul next.
That reminds me, I had a thought today that made me worry a tiny bit less - In KL we have 77 cars for 5.5km of track. In the 'Ring we have abut 220 cars but spread over 25km odd. So the car-per-track ratio is actually better.
But to offset that, the guys/gals on the 'Ring will know how to drive a lot better than the people in Sepang.

We'll be doing a little over two hours each session. That's about 10 - 11 laps I think.

                  Bill,

what the sims don't prepare you for is how STEEP it is in places. You will come out of some corners, and it will look like you are facing a bitumen wall.

Have fun, and keep it shiny side up

Bill - better ratio of cars per km of track, but at Sepang you get a nice 12-15m wide track, at Nurburgring it feels like 9m at best. I'd make sure those mirrors have electric adjustment.

Good Luck, I may have to do this one day.

Especially coming down Fuchsrohre (fox hole). It's hard to believe experienced drivers take the dip and the left at the bottom flat out.
