I'll tell you what is really cool about the ChaseCam is that fact that it records in MPEG-2 and not on a tape. You can download onto your laptop/PC about 1GB per minute with a USB 2.0 card reader, which equates to about 15 minutes of footage. That would take 14 minutes longer to do that with a MiniDV tape. MPEG-2 is perfect for putting onto a DVD, so as soon as it's downloaded you can throw it straight onto a DVD and the job is done.
I did recce for Suncoast Classic two weekends ago, and as soon as I finished the last stage I had a DVD of in-car of all of the stages to give to the driver within 30 minutes, which included downloading the stages, renaming them and then burning the DVD.
Each time you turn the PDR100 on it records to a separate file. You can then rename each file in seconds on your laptop and know exactly what you have. It's so much better having an individual clip for each stage that you can go to immediately, rather than scrolling through a tape or one large video file trying to find the piece of footage you want to view.
There's no moving parts in the recorder, so it's very resistant to vibration unlike a Handicam.
I'll have it installed in Daniel Callinan's Commodore for Suncoast if you want a closer look.
