To all those who are saying stay off bikes etc, what kind of pussys are you?

Old mate takes one from a semi and you all are backing down?

He set a quality example, more of you should be riding bikes.

Hahah Marty you 'ard coont! Things like this make people contemplate their mortality - me included. I am pretty much set on selling the bike and staying off one (road) probably at least until the kids are grown up a bit and then it's a "maybe". It's so hard on my Mrs at the moment as I am useless and need help with most things plus looking after a baby and a 3yr old is tough for her - it's just not fair on the family when this shit happens.

PS - I don't know that I even hit the semi. I know for sure I hit the ground and the bike but I may have been spared hitting the actual truck - hence minor injuries.

I know that sounds a bit soft and it's not to say I won't ever ride a bike again but fuck riding in peak hour with a million incompetent fuckers trying to knock you off every day. I don't like the prospect of public transport though.
One day I'll get a bike but it won't be my daily , fuck dealing with fuckers all the time. It'll be a weekender.

Yeah, you guys swearing off bikes are pussies.

If you ride, don't undertake a truck. It's pretty simple..

Sorry Cam but I thought you looked unco on your bike when you just got it. This proves it.

(Just joking but I note you haven't told us the real story yet :D)

Muz - I have been riding in peak hour every single day for 9 yrs and never had an accident - I put myself in the wrong spot "IF" something went other than expected and guess what - it did - so I openly admit it was a bad place to be and increased my risk.

As for unco - get fucked. :D You try balancing a 190kg bike on deep rocks and gravel when you are shit scared of dropping it cos you just bought it - you'd be being extra careful too. What do you ride again apart from fat chicks? :p

PS - agree - swearing off bikes cos of someone else's incident is a bit much but I think most are saying they would avoid commuting on one not so much never ride one. I agree with that mostly as the more you are on the road the more chance of something bad happening - it's simple odds!

                        Hey Cam,

my bro emailed me the news.
just logged onto PF for the first time in months.

                        pics look nasty.
Hope you have a speedy recovery mate, and all the best to Alana and the family.

I havent had much scooter time myself lately.
The Italjets going ok, still have the malossi head to fit to it yet.
The local twisty club had a ride out today, but surf was up and I hit the water instead. (got me a 6"3 7S Superfish recently).

                        rest up mate.

                        cheers

This was part of my reasoning for getting rid of my bike - before something like this (or worse) happened to me.

Very glad to hear you are ok mate. If you are considering a car for commuting, make sure you don't get a raw shitter. Get something comfortable. Because driving a car in traffic will dirve you mental at first, especially when you see all those guys on bikes zipping through traffic on their merry ways...

G'day little fella...I'll ignore your gay edo adventure bike comment, knowing that it must have been the drugs that made you say it.
I have to say that I have no ambition to ride the BM to work, I do that on a pushy. Actually, you may know a bloke who could hook you up with a pushy to get to work on.

I have found getting out & all over the place on weekends on the big BM has been great. You dont try to go fast, its about going places not getting there...the journey not the destination (faggy zen shit in other words).
Tell you what though, I did bail on the ride with Vicko on Sunday...didnt fancy my chances of staying upright on 240kg of BM with unskilled me trying to keep up with uber skilled Vicko on his featherweight 250CRF...in the mud.
                            Soft eh?

I am enjoying the dirt road type riding, there are hardly any cars, even less trucks & you get to places that are just awesome. I am actually considering trading into a HP2 at sometime around xmas.

By the sounds of it you might not have to worry about selling the bike...it could easily be written off.

Buy wreck, stick engine in teeny car?
