No I want to find out what the damage bill is like - pretty sure it will be small but just want to get it sorted, fixed, sold and get myself a car and a dirt bike (dirt bike straight away is budget permitting - car comes first!)

Small bill and zeds dont seem to go together cam, trust me for comparison sake, mine had rear tail, tank, headlight fairing, bars, speedo, those parts brand new added up to nearly 7k.

Shit eh - I would say at least those bits may need replacing and more. Dad has seen it and reckons the tank has a fist sized dent (from bar ends) and the rear section is toast. I guess it depends if they decide to panel beat the tank or get a new one as that will make a big diff to price. I imagine at least the pipes on one side will be all scraped up and probably dented.

Who can tell me at what point do they write off - is it at a % of the insured value or full insured value? EG - it is insured for $13'500 - will they write it off only when it gets to $13k or would they consider it not worth doing somewhere below that $$ value? (can you tell I have never had to claim on insurance before for anything let alone a decent sized acco!)

depends on the insurance company, but normally it's in the order of 65% is it not??

It's generally around the 60-70% mark where it becomes an economic write off , past that it's become worthwhile to payout and cut their losses due to dealing with customer not being happy with the job, return from auctioning it and costing more than the original quote due to extra damage.

Finally get to see the bike tomorrow as it will be making it's way (flatbed stylee!) to the bike shop for assessment so will have pics tomorrow. My old man was telling me about the bike "parked" next to mine at the tow yards - 06 Gixxer Thou that was quite triangular (squished at front to normal height by the rear cowl) from where it went under the front of a truck - complete with blood stains.
