Bunnings, go to the cleaning section, they are like "steelo" cleaning pads without the soap.

You get steel wool from hydraulic rams!

sorry..poor farm joke...I saw it in my local supermarket...but normal steel wool should be ok in a catch can...but the stainless ones are coarser.

              Man...have you tried coles????

There is usually a few different brands there, and they have written on them if they are stainless or not.

Usually the stainless stuff looks very 'curly' like swarf from a drill, whereas the normal stuff is like cotton wool balls made of metal.

Seeing you're in SA, Rotaflo mufflers will almost certainly have that stuff.

                        PLAYA,
Try Bunnings , Mitre 10 etc and look in the cleaning section. They usually have bulk packs of these things aimed at cleaning companies , builders and other tradies etc.

Is this for an air / oil spearator can?

If it is I got a box from my local AMWAY distributor called "Scrub Buds"

                        Pete.
