    It's a two litre 4T-GTE.
It was made for Group B rallying only, and was based on the relatively common 3T-GTE. There's heaps of those in Aus.
They've got eight spark plugs - two per cylinder - but only eight valves, despite being a twin-cam.

      4t-gte

      Edit: Damn you Bill Sherwood!
I've seen things you people wouldn't believe, and from this side only! The flight of a half-man, half-bird. Dinosaurs nuzzling their young in pastures where strip-malls should be. Cookies on dowels. All those moments lost in time; gone like eggs off a hooker's stomach. Time to die.

So the advantage of twin cams on single valves were?

Lack of drivetrain hp loss (over a pushrod combo)? :D

Let me clarify... the advantage of a DOHC over SOHC in a 8 valve configuration was?

exactly the same as the advantages of DOHC over SOHC on a 16 valve configuration.

Shame you get to the end of the photos and see it in a museum. It really looks like it should be back out on the stages!

Better valve angle is possible and no rockers.

Is this pre Toyota cheating with the air restrictor and turbo housings? :D

Is there a way to grab those pictures and save them?

Press the print screen key and paste it into MS photo editor.

A work of Art brought back to life! *brings tears to the eye*

That really is a project of the heart.....It is a restoration that is reserved for the most special vehicles....... I wonder how this vehicle would do at Concourse d'Elegance the workmanship is at that level

Jon, This is a pre 4wd era car & was I believe half competitive, its a Nissan 240RS competitor (dont they look similar too). Im pretty sure that the early quattro was around by then but the 205T16 & Integrale werent...quattro wasnt the ground effects car pictured. The Lancia 037 was their car at the time.

Muz, yes pre very clever cheating bastards

Norbie, great find...shows that people have been making stuff really nicely for years doesnt it.

Well and truly pre that. I believe that was in the early 90's with the Celica. Seriously Toyota should give up on F1 and get back to rally where they have a chance of winning.
                          RB26......................Again

I did see a thing on Bates' new super2000 corolla on RPM, its debut will be at ROC....does that count?

Does the ARC still actually exist? Any TV coverage? I think this thing should sound pretty awesome. Sounded like it would be really easy to drive when he said it only really makes power between 7500 & 9000rpm. God, you are going to need to be committed compared to a turbo car. I predict more crashes.

It looks farking cool & strong…. Bet it would pull a fantastic skid too.

Wonder how good early EFI was back then, if they were running factory style ECU’s factory re-tuned or some type of early motorsport ECU.

The ARC still exists, it is on telly the WRC guys do the production, I actually watched a bit of WA Forest Rally the other day. RoC is full ARC, dynomatt and myself will be entering this year . The S2000 really does sound awesome, will link to vids in a sec.

I too thought they might as well change the VIN rather than replacing all the metal in sections, looks like they built the trans. tunnel first, then the floors, I wonder how much metal is still original?

                                Mmmmm S2000 goodness...

                                T.
I touched my brother's wang and all I got was this lousy signature. If only I had a POWERCHIP to flick instead.
