While that may be true, you don't really get much more with the 6 hatch than the sedan; the ability to remove the parcel-shelf is about the only difference. I'd presumed you were talking about the SP23 sedan (I put the hatch out of my mind as much as possible, on the basis of appearanceOriginally posted by Grumpy RoosterThats for the sedan. If you want the hatch then its $10k dearer because you have to get the Sports Luxury.
).
The lack of go in the Liberty would probably annoy me, at least in a car I owned (borrowing is different).Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.

Are you sure he's driven the 2.0 Liberty, which is the engine he's looking at buying for that price?Originally posted by Grumpy RoosterHe is just after something that will be similar to drive as the SP20. He liked driving that. Go isn't so much of a concern for him, as long as it isn't hell slow which neither the Liberty or the Mazda are.
I'm amazed that (from an appearances POV) someone can dislike the current Astra & actually like a Mazda3 Boatback!
*edit*
Hey, is he averse to spending less monkey & getting something smaller & probably more like the SP20? I'm asking 'cos things like Swift Sports are probably close to what the SP20 was and Fiesta Zetecs are no smaller than the Mazda3 is larger; and if he's after that chuckable small-car feel, Mazda3's don't really have a lot of it. What I've just mentioned is definitely lacking compared to a Liberty in terms of NVH, plastics quality, etc; but I suspect they can be as much fun & last as long & cost him considerably less in the long run. Depends on how much of his fun-ness comes from acceleration & how much comes from chuckability, I guess.Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. The Astra and Focus (imho) look better than either the Mazda 3 or Corolla.
To sit in either the corolla or 3 is a rather depressing experience. They have no special feel to them.
The euro competition and the mid sized Euro/6/Liberty are a quantum leap in appeal.
Oh...we forgot a car! Honda Civic Sport
