i'd love to do the speed limit but every dumb cunt in Mackay keeps tailgating and due to the rain we had 2 4 car pile ups on the bruce highway.
I on my way home (hay point road) can't do the speed limit in the rain due to the poor road conditions. They are resurfacing the road and its already got pot holes on it! and the 4wd bravo can't do skids becuase of a busted turbo.Royalpurple OilsOriginally posted by Carroll SmithThe price of Man in motion is the occasional collision.

Rain, wow. It's not like it's getting THAT slippery in the rain.
But i have noticed that the tyres of my car is considerably more slippery in the rain then the equivalents back home in northern europe. I.e the dirt cheap Bob Jane ones, probably the worst wet grip i ever encountered, even much worse than my Semi-slick Azenis i had on my car in Sweden or the Supercheap daily driver tires aswell. I think the rubber is just way too hard, adapted for longlife in extreme heat = Fuck all grip in the wet

yes but PBjore, how many times have you actually seen rain in Australia?
it's not like a comment event here
and the millions of taxi drivers have spoken - they all want cheap hard as rocks rubber because 60,000km out of a set of tyres is barely enoughOriginally posted by boxxx

Yes that's the point, but even with crappy ass wetgrip tires it doesn't become extremely slippery I reckon it's just a case of bad drivers.
Mind you, we got exactly the same phenomenon in southern sweden every winter, when the first snow arrives people are all over the road. But the thing is it was just as slippery last winter, but people just seem to forget "Oh it's the white stuff on the ground again, wonder if it's slippery" Of course it is... ! Don't blame it on the rain blame it on bad drivers...
EDIT: Reading what i've written i sound like fuckin arctic monkey. Aka a polarzone swede that just racks down on the southern swede on their inability to drive in the Snow, just because he happends to be a retard that lives in a gigantic freezer. And I happend to be the retard that lives in a country with a 12month rainseason atm

NG - know it well - twas my old stomping ground (lived in Daisy Hill behind Slacks Creek Primary). Lots of great dorifto acco's around those roundabouts including the bloke who (back in the day) I sold my VP V8 5spd wagon too. He had owned it all of about a week and first rain we had he slid it off the side of the roundabout and backwards into a light pole (heading towards the on ramp where BMW is these days coming from the direction of the bottle-o in the shopping complex opp Shell)Hide yo' wife!!!

OK I have been trapped here for around the same amount of time.Originally posted by smeeI want to know when it is going to stop raining.
Been in Adelaide 3 weeks and I think there has been maybe 4 or 5 days without rain. Not that we do not need it. Just does not seem to be alot landing in the catchment areas......
The roads here are bad in the wet. You would normally have cateyes, or lane marker dots to show line or lane deliniation.. Here, nothing. And with bugga all street lighting it scares the pants off me where some people drive. I try and stick to the left. At least I know I've got a couple of metres between me and the car/truck coming in the other direction.
Non stop rain for like 4-5 weeks pretty much.
Lucky I got away from the ordinary weather in canberra, hey?
also, what is with the burst water mains all the time over here?
Do they build them out of styrofoam or some shit? One is busted every second day...
I also like how some brain surgeon of a town planner over here thinks that it is a good idea for 5 way intersections and/or roundabouts to exist...
grrr...
