Exactly my reaction. How the fuck could any organiser think that it would be a good idea to organise something as stupid as that

You could say the same about the aussies and the "top speed competition" held at eastern creek a few years ago... with "the judge", where the couldn't stop and ran into the wall. People make mistakes, this one being a huge one!

If you have been to summernats then you have been in a dodgier situation than this I reckon. There are more pissed fuckwits threatening the lives of hundreds of people every second there. I always try and imagine what a stuck throttle would cause, and at Summernats it's not pretty..

This burnout car just hooked up and by the time you get your foot off it you're going 100 kays. Even after you back off the tyres and wheels have a LOT of energy to get rid of, and the car takes off.

I'd say he only stayed into it for a fraction of a second too long. VERY sad results, something about it being a charity thing means that it might not have been motor sports people which is kinda sadder to me for some reason.

Phee, you reckon charity based stuff makes you immune from the law. Have a think about this.

i was thinking the exact same thing.....

but yeah, it's a sad thing to read.. i'm all in favor of charities, but i'm not too fond of people who get killed..
it -is- odd, though, as why there was no real form of guard rayl, knowing them be murrcans...but that doesn't alter the fact that this is a very sad event....

this sort of thing brings depression and sadness into many households... and i can't be happy with that sort of thing..

I hope the knob that organised that feels like shit for the rest of his life, thats fuckin terrible. A bloody 10yo would know better than that.

My initial thought also was "what the hell are those stupid spectators thinking", but then considering (like bigmuz stated) they're likely not motorsport fans I suppose there's a good chance they had no idea of the risks.

I think it was the car suddenly gaining traction that caused it to go to shit. That thing was seriously moving.

                            RIP to all

Just watched the video, if you didn't know better - it looked like illegal street drags but during the day!
It's not how fast you go, it's how you go fast.
