if you were gonna do a honda frankenstein motor you'd do it to a JDM type-r given they are about $10k less than the local one... and you've lost teh warranty anyway

i know you guys are harping on about the Type-R being quite suited to tarmac rallies and official events

surely 'frankenstein' motors would be illegal? but do you just put on the standard rocker covers and carry on?

I think the Japanese CTR makes 160-165kW

What a sh!tty power band, although they got the gearing right to suit.
It's not how fast you go, it's how you go fast.

yes illegal, & you'd get nailed I reckon.

Also, having done a tarmac rally in my R, I dont actually think its such a great idea. You are too reliant on keeping your corner speed up...& too many things can change mid corner in tarmac rallies for you to do this & not crash. Something that accelerates hard, brakes hard & corners fairly slowly is much better, it takes that risk out...ie Porsches & 4wds.

However, running something like this will only ever have you in a class where you are up against similar things, so there is no reason you shouldnt win the class, we did by a lot.

Interesting graphs... so essentially you are out of the VTEC YO zone until 40km/h.
And rapid overtaking at 100km/h would take a shift down to 3rd!

flygti was stoped n G'ed up to do a a burn out,n as we all no it doesnt take much to get him g'ed, so he did the burnout but who could blame him he had earned it with the effort he put in to be in the cruise and help it go ahead safely

I used to do all my races keeping it over 6000rpm, & thats not that hard to do. Its hard doing that as an amature punter in a tarmac rally with a good but still first timer navigator (vicko)

I always reckoned they would make a pox road car because there was nothing downstairs in the rev dept

Corollary = you are in VTEC y0 zone from 40km/h to 200km/h+ if you want to be...

Well, when you can get cars with max Nm from 1800rpm to 5000rpm why should anyone have to put up with a Nm curve like the Type R?

Are we looking at the same dyno graph? All I see is a NA 2L production engine with over 90% of it's torque from just below 3000rpm to 8500rpm.

Not bad considering the absence of a blower.

Except for the dip from 3000-6000rpm. Whats with that?
