    Manifold studs....WTFPFXMASBBQ!

I'm chasing up a set of 12 exhaust manifold studs for my car.

    10x1.5mm thread diameter and pitch.

they need to be about 45mm long, longer doesn't matter as I can cut them.

I've been to about 11tybillion places today and the ones I have already (40mm) are the only ones that anyone can get.

Where the hell can I get a set of longer studs?

Find some OE ones available as spare parts?

Or else make your own out of bolts? I've never been able to find anyone with a range of studs like you want.

        What are you willing tupée?
I had much the same problem, and ended up getting OEM Volvo ones at $12ea. I'm around 65% sure I was using 45mm studs.

Actually, Swedish Auto Spares (02 3252 4397) may be worth a call, they may sell 'em at a more reasonable rate. Unsure what suburb they're in, but I vaguely recall you can see the CBD from there only a few km away & they're near the water.
Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.

Wurth is kind of like Snap On for consumables, good but bloody expensive.

High tensile threaded rod. Might be referred to as Booker rod, or Samson rod. Buy and cut to length. Cheap as chips- I can send you some if you like?

Fish - The studs are to replace bolts, because the design of the turbo manifold prevents the use of said bolts.

I might have found a set - my mate was doing some ringing around for me at exhaust shops this arvo.

They are closer to what I want than anything I;ve found so far, but I think the 'non-threaded' section might be too big to allow the manifold to be tightened.

I'll get a hold of those studs tomorrow and report back if they are no good

Thanks for your help so far though!

If the non-threaded section is too long just get hold of a 10x1.5 tap & run it down a few more threads, or even fit extra washers (bodgy bastard).

Try asking for grub screws in a bolt shop. They come in different lengths, but will most likely need to be ordered in.
This has the added bonus of coming with an allen keyway to make removal and installation easy.
