The TRD Aurion and Hilux are their "Testing the waters... again" cars. In a few years when the sub-brand is fully entrenched in peoples minds they'll then start bringing bigger guns to the table, just like HDT/HSV/Tickford/FPV....

    .... I hope

i don't think toyota's marketing is any better than ford or holden

under $45k? stick to toyota's own Sportivo brand

over $45k? move up to TRD

      nothing we haven't seen before

i'm sure Mitsubishi would love to do the same thing with Ralliart if they had any money

i'd like to think we'll see some rwd action in a few years too

Sounds about right (400Nm) for a forced induction 3.5L V6

480Nm and 550Nm for the XR6T and Typhoon respectively is where its at

ahh ok, so, in saying that, would a supercharger produce more torque than a turbo? Turbo/Supercharger being equivalent in size.

Ignoring the issue of size equivalence, all other things being equal...the answer is no in outright terms. The SC takes torque to drive it.
The response time/torque delivery is vastly different, but that is a different issue.

i'm happy to wait for a few of these to get binned so i cna get my hands on one of the 4 lobe eatons :D
they look remarkably like they will operate like the lysholm, just with a different lobe profile (ie, amoutn of angular twist etc)...

TRD Aurion is a bunch of understeery bollocks. If any useless cunt picked one of these lead-tipped arrows over a Subaru Liberty GT it would only be because he'd just shat out his brains that morning. I'll bet you could initiate a fairly severe lane-change manouver by just nailing the throttle...

And WOOHOO, look at the F1 technology going on under the bonnet, what with the supercharger and the FWD and the V6 and doors and so forth... I hope the shiny-suited marketing fuckhead that came up with this concept chokes on his fucking berocca-skinny-latte.

On another forum I visit, one comment from an local industry insider was that it's not a real Toyota Technocraft (TRD) design, and the only TRD component is the badging. Toyota Australia simply licenses the TRD branding and gets Prodrive to do the performance mods.

I just don't geddit, when has Toyota made a decent fist of selling ANY type of performance car here in recent years? Corolla Turbo? Waoow... Camry Touring? Quick, get me the tissues! FFS it seems like every five years they "test the water" with some half assed badge and mags job, and sell 12 of them, all to marketing execs/travelling salesmen, then quietly proclaim it a failure, returning to their white-bread and margarine models. I just cannot see how this will be any different.
