Stewart - that's for COD postage at any rate.
Here's the deal - there's two types, one is where the person has paid for the part (or it's been given away) and they are just paying postage. you fills the form, send it, and they pay the postage at the post office after getting a notification card and pick up the item.
The other is if they pay for hte item _and_ the postage. that way same process - they get a card, and go pay the nominated price plus the postage price. Aus post keep the postage fee and send a money order for the remainder to the sender.
In both cases there's a tracking number. there likely is for an item the sender posts, but I'm yet to have done that.
Frankly, it's clear (what with the cancer claim etc) that teh guy never sent it.
The aus post option I tend to stick to has the advantage that if I have dramas and am late sending it (count on that btw) the recipient isn't out of pocket, they only hand over cash when it's at their local post office.
Of course there are size and weight limits. I used to be able to sneak some inlet manifolds (cast clevo) in at 4 kg over the limit a while back, but recently they've _really_ cracked down on it (i wonder if I was the cause). 20kg is 'it'
Aus post prices have gone up massively in the last few years. It was actually cheaper for a guy to send me an ohg x-450 mixer from somewhere in the USA than it would have been for me to send it from Melbourne to Sydney via Aus Post.John McKenzie

ahh sorry, i missed the COD bit. they have to track then otherwise someone doesn7t get monies...
i used to only send after bank deposit, and use.... ahh thats it "registered post" so it is tracked and signed for...(and is now $2.60)
COD is too much of a headfuck if the fucker doesn't want to pay for it when it arrives...."I'm a retarded Doctor, not a retarded Mechanic"
