And we leave work at the same time, day in, day out. He has been thrashed more times than Guidos Mum at the lights of the M4 tollgates and so badly that he doesn't bother anymore...

The n/a Supras aren't a bad thing. I have driven his and it was not bad at all. But it's far from fast. I'd save a few more dollars and go TT everytime...
Lets not drag the variable LS1 production tolerances into this... nor the fact that the T56 is a dunger of a gearbox and in the average drivers hands an Auto may well be faster. Anyway, I'm just calling how its been, given the LS1 ute and the LS1 stato that I have run.

Dunno how right or wrong I really am. I know that on paper an LS1 commode should be faster. But the two times I have run one there hasn't been much difference. Maybe it just hooks up harder initially and given its short gearing, and the fact that in built up areas I tend to button off before I get going too fast (eg 90km/h) it just keeps its nose in front?

Also, from what I've read and seen, I'd reckon on mine being a reasonably fit example of the breed, there do seem to be a lot worse getting around.

I smashed an auto mk4 in my NA R31 with 3 people in it (R31 runs 15.9) And I beat a manual one with just me in the car. Both were fully riced up with fart cannons, megatron bodykits and sub boxes. Yet I have seen them run 14's. So the performance seems to vary a lot depending on condition and the level of fucked up rice mods.

Why anyone would bodykit a Supra is beyond me... And subs are for Civics and Pulsars.

Yep the mk4 supra has some of the best lines of any jap import and every body kit I have seen makes em look like shit (and go slower).

I'm a pansy.. I actually like the mk3 look better? tougher or something.

My friend had a non-turbo a few years ago (hmm, about 5), and he sold it for $18k back then, so they are still holding their value ok. I drove it once, and it did go quite well, but now days with most things have around 180kw on tap, it would probably be quite comparable.

If you can find an aero top, the one my mate had, they're pretty nice on a summer day to cruise around in. Girls love em. Actually, just found the photos..

driven a couple of them , they are ok.
sorta weird with n/a power after driving turbo ones , but very smooth.

It's because the Mk4 looks as though it's filled with air & made out of rubber, and someone's squeezed the centre of it so that the headlights & front-end all bulge out. It looks like it's in a continual state of 'eek' ->
Soft roaders represent an excellent compromise between the needs of the hardcore 4x4 user and the convenience of a city hatchback. Its clear to see why they have become so popular in todays society.

I put it to you sir, that as a known Volvo fanatic, your comments ref automotive styling are null and void.

And besides, the MK3 is just a jap spin on an 80's Transam, IMHO, with all the dodgy "Van Halen stylee" that goes with it...

Mk3's herald from the day when manufacturers were not scared to have straight lines on a car. In my completely unbiased opinion they look tough.

Mk4's look cool too - but look like they are from a completely different century to the previous supras, rather than the model that followed on from the mk3!

Well, I said originally that I "kept pace" with them. Which is pretty much true, the stato was dead level to 90km/h where I backed off, and the ute was about a bonnet length behind at around 80, and I think he may have got a bit of a shit launch. Anyway, there are too many variables in giving someone a run on the street. I just meant to illustrate the point that they are an underrated car. Not rocketship-fast, but not taxi-slow either.

i think people underestimate the weigh of the supra

it's about 1,400kg for the n/a right? i don't think it would be that slow with the n/a motor

Yeah this is another thing I don't understand, people always bang on about the Supra (and the 300zx for that matter) being heavy, porky etc. WRX's and Golf GTi's weigh similar amounts these days don't they?
