We were looking at and drove the Touareg before we opted for the Pathfinder.
It only had 1/2 the engine of the one above however (2.5TDI 5cyl) but was also 1/2 the price at $64990.
I liked it, especially the interior quality (Shits on our Pathfinder), but no 7 seat option, extra $$ for leather, and Metallic paint swung the deal Nissans way.
BTW, you will find alot of (if not all) Modern Diesel engines are sluggish from a standing start, even a V10 touareg, its to do with the 'Euro 4' emissions, basically the one way manufacturers comply with Euro 4 is to 'drastically' cut the amount of Diesel injected into the motor as you take off, as this is the worst period for a Diesel engines emission wise (No plumes of Black smoke anymore).
It was really noticeable when our fleet of Isuzus gradually changed over to Euro 4 engines, the quoted HP figures were going up and up, but they felt slower, even my new Volkswagen Crafter hardly comes on Boost at all in 1st gear.
