The Mustang and X series falcons share so much in common mechanically and chassis wise that there is no point making any distinction between the two until you hit XD/XE.
Mustangs and falcons twist a lot. If you want to build an 11 sec car you WILL need to do chassis work, or paint work after your car is done twisting.
For me, XB, XW/Y or a mustang. I dont like the earlier falcons so much.
I went with the mustang.302 Ford Windsor Technical Forums

Agreed. I fully expect to be welding in some subframe connectors and bolting in some engine bay bracing.Originally posted by C0V3R View PostThe Mustang and X series falcons share so much in common mechanically and chassis wise that there is no point making any distinction between the two until you hit XD/XE.

For me the distinction comes with value in acheiving what I want without throwing bulk dollars at it. This is where the quandary comes, but then again I suppose it just comes down what I really want rather than trying to make a value decision (always an issue with me).
Very nice 'Stang by the way. How do you go with the LHD? Do you find it any issue?Envy is Ignorance, Imitation is Suicide - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Thanks! LHD is fine with and auto, but its taking a little while to get used to shifting right handed and steering left handed now that I have the tremec. The other biggest irritant is ticketed car parks. I need to get one of those plastic claws from the 80s.
Actually with the AU$ nearing parity you should start looking at a finished stang from the states. You might be able to pick up a real bargain doing that.302 Ford Windsor Technical Forums

I just want the experience of getting pulled over and the copper walking over to the wrong side.
Was thinking about that, but my brief forays looking into this has left me with the impression that the Yanks have realised that people will pay money for old Stangs, particularly fastbacks. Hence my looking at Fairlanes and Falcons. I can be wrong thoughOriginally posted by C0V3R View PostActually with the AU$ nearing parity you should start looking at a finished stang from the states.
