Umm, the original AC Ace was powered by a 2litre Bristol straight 6, which was actually a pre war BMW design which they basically took as part of the spoils of victory.

So a BMW powered Cobra replica isn't quite as perverse as it first appears. But I still think they need a big cube V8 for an authentic feel, a BMW V10 seems a bit girly for a Cobra

If you had the coin for something like that you might as well go and buy one of those Wiessman things

Well... it's girly compared to 811 cubes of big block V8 :p

I'm doing wiring/management on a Duratec powered Clubbie for a mate, considering the Kent was a generic FoMoCo donk and the Durtec is a generic FoMoCo donk I don't see a problem with another cam and about 100+more hp turning up to the party considering how much better the rest of the chassis is these days...

You going to add more ballast over the front axle line to make it handle even worse?

                      No.

It's been a bit of drama. Tee'd up a guy on pf (best not to say who) to build the engine, but that all just came to nothing which really fucked over our plans. So at the moment I've got a holding deposit on an LS2 (fuck the LS6, more money for no gain at all) but since the kit car nationals is on in 2 weeks* we're going to go along just to be sure there's nothing else we want. Also want to have a chat who a dude here who builds 302w's that are claimed to only weigh 180kg dressed. Oh and the factory 5 kits are being shown so I'll check one out too.

So not much happened but things will be soon. At least we've used the time to put money aside for the project. Also got some good contacts in the composites biz too which will help.

Oh and to the guys suggesting 250kg+ OHC engines - no thanks.

                      * Any UK guys want to come along and kick tires pm me.

Aftermarket support for the Zetec/Duratec engines is such that you'd be crazy not to put one in

Anyone who thinks a big HP chev motor is going to be cheaper then a Ford big HP donk to build has NFI.

Ford SVO parts may cost the earth but they are the gun equipment. Wouldn't touch Chev/GM if my family owned the mexican factories they came from.

It may have been mentioned or asked, but would an XR6T engine fit in one?

Have you ever built a BIG hp clevo or Windsor? Parts are nasty! ( Price that is )
If you build a Cobra, you should be putting a FORD engine in.
