For those saying GT40 - not an option thanks. As said in the original post and by others they're bloody expensive to build and falls some way short of something I'd be happy for the other half to drive on a slippery diesel covered B road. Would love to build one, one day though.

Now someone find me a cheap powerful pre 93 302 and trans

The driveline looks good, but the damn thing is in Florida ... and I'm not even on that continent yet.

The way I understand the kit-car laws in Canada, what I'll need is an unmodified Mustang of that vintage with an unmolested driveline and terminal body rot and a stuffed interior. After I've built the FFR Daytona Coupe with the driveline, fuel tank, suspension, and brake parts from the donor, and it's been inspected and approved, then I can look at upgrading the driveline, suspension, and brakes with aftermarket parts.

you would be happy to allow your other half to drive a Cobra replica?

Don't see why not. She's got more experience in these things than I do. As for the GT40, all the ones I've seen here have a reputation for snap oversteer. Granted the one from the QR sprints doesn't seem like that but the UK chassis do.

I love how everyone arcs up over chevs in these things, considering the original car Shelby used as the base was powered by a pox BL engine.

one is going in a cobra at 'the snake pit' at the moment and it's been detuned to 1000rwhp. apparently if they push it it should be good for 1300+RWHP.

I still think a BMW V10 would be the way to go...

Though I wonder if you could shoehorn a 6 litre N73 V12 into the bay?

Doing a bit of digging ... the older 5 litre N62B36 came with a compression ratio of 8.8 ... got boost?
